4-D, not at all trying to be rude or inconsiderate, but weight reduction through a diff swap is just ridiculous IMO. With as nose heavy as the car is, why would you want to take out more weight from the rear. The AYC works like sex, especially with the SST. It is a match made in heaven. I don't know why you would even consider it.

Also, have you exhausted all other weight reduction options, like A/C, radio, dash, insulation, door panels removal etc.?

Both ABS and AYC would be last on my list of weight saving. They just do so much to allow you to safely enjoy the car.

i know you wanted info about the AYC delete but i have to agree with everyone here. deleting an integral part of the vehicles handling seems like the wrong end of the spectrum to start at.

or...start with your brake calipers, fast and furious, fools running an s2000

just joking, but deleting AYC seems like a bad place to start.

o_O I never noticed that...cant even use the idea of it being drum brakes...otherwise...the slots serve no purpose.

Anywho, everyone is pretty much saying the same. AYC is a bad place to start IMO.

I'm not a weight loss guy, but I would strip the interior, change the battery, swap the driveshaft (DSM guys have swapped their heavy ass driveshaft for ones made of carbon fiber), swap doors for lighter ones, lightweight windows, or be innovative, chop the roof off, and put in a cage wrapped with felt or whatever.

The EVO went through great development to be one of the best affordable handling car. What your asking is like de-balls your EVO X. Have you even take the car to an Autocross, track day to understand and appreciated the AYC technology? If not, you need to.

Ok guys, im no expert but isnt there no AYC in the Japanese Evo X RS model? The car weighs 3130lbs which is no laughing matter on the track. Im pretty sure that it handles extremely well, so saying that he is ruining the Evo X by removing AYC is a little unfair considering Mitsubihshi develops it that way in there most extreme track model.

I think saving weight by removing the AYC is completely understandable. Plus I believe and correct me if I am wrong but isnt AYC not even legal in some professional motorsports and events?

I would in no way say that doing this is removing the balls off our cars.

Oh and I believe most proffesional race cars, do NOT use ABS. Driving without ABS really teaches something amazing when using your breaks.

OR..... Causes alot of accidents at the track. Either one. lol.
