I read this thread and wonder wtf makes a guy think this "tuner" is a good for me and for my Evo.

Suggestion would be to PM a good E-tuner on here and get the tune done right the first time and not fuck up your car.

BakaUnchi, Golden, Hollywood, Dino and many others that would not have to call Cobb for suggestions on how to tune your Evo with ECU Flash ..

Hold on a minute, he isnt some random with no credentials. His resume is quite impressive, hence why him being stumped is a concern. It always helps to have more people think about a problem than not.

Edit:

Hmm this is rather interesting, also leading me to further wonder if something is messed up with the stock ECU. Boost is down to 12lbs, and with all the upgrades I should be throwing a CEL and some codes. I was when I first drone it home...now magically the CEL is gone and no codes to pull off at all....

This is the third one of these I've heard of in a week.

Were you flashing using EcuFlash or EvoScan? Which version?

Were you using any of my RAX Patch ROM patches? RAX Fast Logging, etc.?

Need more info to diagnose. In for rom, xml (and any additions/alterations), & program/setup using to flash.

Ill post an update when we go back to it thursday. With the holidays and also wanting to gather information we didnt want to return to it right away. Plus i've been sick so the car hasnt been getting drove anyways.

Im the tuner on this evo.

Rom ID 55580005. No RAX patches, or rom patches. (Just trying to get a base tune in)

Meaning the only thing edited was fuel,timing,load,and mivec maps no more!

Battery voltage was fine through the flashes. It would only a accept a benched flash (not obd2) The OEM ROM was corrupt and causing the issue NOT the tune... I benched it with a new rom with a base map and its fine now.

X-SE The reason a call to Cobb is simple, I worked with Mitch Magnumpsi (AMS,VIVID,COBB) and see if they would have a spare in the event this ecu WAS BAD...

Hi Evan.

Thanks for the update. I've been tracking a small cluster of weird flashing issues that all occurred in the past 2 weeks. Seeing as we've had some recent changes to ROMs (RAX Fast Logging) and windows apps (EvoScan 2.9.0023), I've been pestering people for details like the ones you provided above. Thanks!

Just a couple more questions, I promise! ...


Do you have any idea as to why/how the original ROM was corrupt?

Have you changed anything in your flashing/logging environment lately? Like, updates to EvoScan?

Did you happen to have EvoScan open in the background while flashing?

Have you verified that there isnt anything wrong with the OBD plug and wires?

Ill shoot him a message tomorrow to ask him. We wont be able to do anymore tuning until next wed since huzzah, my fuel relay was bad. Yay running lean for who knows how long. >.<
