Received my ETS 4" IC, but...

Just received my ETS 4" IC today. When I inspected the condition of the box, it has two marks as if the box was dropped (pic 1).

When I opened the box, the plastic cover and sticky paper that covered the side where the LICP goes (cold side) were torn and there were some styrofoam (including crushed ones) inside the IC (pic 2).

Some of the styrofoam were crushed to very fine pieces, particularly around the circumference of the cold side (pic 3). This make me believe that the IC was dropped and the impact crushed the styrofoam.

The cold side is also a little bent (pic 4).

The condition of the side where the UICP goes (hot side) is good. The plastic cover and sticky paper were not torn (pic 5).

My questions are:
1) Should I be concerned with the bent section where the LICP goes?

2) I have vacuumed the cold side and managed to get some styrofoam out. I even turned and shook the IC (with the cold side pointing to the floor) and re-vacummed. I'm not sure if I managed to get everything out. What is the best way to make sure that there is no styrofoam (including the crushed ones) inside the IC? Are they bio-degradable?

Overall, this IC is a very very high quality piece and solid. I would recommend it to others.

You could use a mirror like the ones the dentist uses to stick it in there and look around. If you can't see any then I wouldn't worry too much. Glad you like the piece, I'll probably be getting the same one.

I have an ets 4" kit , great piece and awesome quality. My only suggestion is that they revise shipping package methods. Since united package smashers are a merciless group of sob's.

I would contact ETS about the damage. I wouldn't stand for the bent piping but I'm a bit anal. See what they say.

No reason to accept a new in box item with defects, no matter the cause. Im sure ETS will do everything they can to make sure you get a perfect replacement.

Personally it wouldn't bother me. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through for something that can be easily repaired, or even if ignored, will have 0 impact on the performance of the product itself.

I like some of the other posters would also contact ETS about the damage and see if it can be replaced. I also do agree with Happymint that it wouldn't effect performance. It's up to you though.

You don't want any boost leaks from that bend especially once you install it and put everything together. Better take care of it now and not have a big headache later down the road.

All depends on if you want to wait for a replacement or not. I know I wouldn't want to!
