AMS 2.4 stroker
Ok so originally i was going to go with 2.2L stroker with the manley 94mm crankshaft and keep stock sleeves. After reading many many and many more threads, its probably a good idea to sleeve it. I was gonna order the parts in and have a local shop that hasnt worked on a Evo before but has done other imports, build it. After adding in the cost of parts + labour it almost comes to the price of the AMS 2.4 stroker.
I'm currently in the process of being sposnored by Sean from DSG, just working out the fine details. The car will be set up for time attack but still remain street legal so i dont have to tow it to other events. I really wanna stick to stock frame turbo so im still going with a BB FP Black with a small goal of 500hp 400trq, full spool by ~4000rpm. So just to make things clear so people dont ask why dont i just bore it out to a 2.2L. I planned on going with a stroker from the start and already sold my oem crankshaft. So im defently commited to a stroker..lol. Has anyone gone with this kit? I looked through the build threads and found a few but not really the turbo setup and fuel (im sticking with 91 octane, no race gas and we dont have e85 in canada) The parts list is as follows... AMS 2.4 stroker 9:5:1 compression Tomei 260/250 cams (already got them) Supertech valves (most likely 1mm overbore) Supertech valve springs APR Main Studs (already got them) APR Head Studs BB FP Black New oil pump New oil pan Mishimoto Oil Dual oil cooler AMS A/C Delete AMS Lightweight Battery AMS Front crossmember AWD Motorsports lightweight driveshaft Girodisc 2 piece rotors track pads (havent decided what brand) And probably a few other things So what do you guys think. Our road courses here are pretty tight so not alot of room for top speed hence why i want to go with the black and only go with 500hp.

If you're concerned about spool then why the black? If you aren't worried about out flowing the turbo because you won't be usin the top end why go big?
I'm by no means an expert. Does the 2.4 flow too much for the red? Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App

Just Spooling Up
|
I think your doing the right thing by going with sleeves. There is nothing worse than thinking your driving around on borrowed time.
You could get that spool out of a 750xp kit and make more power than a black and once you start adding up exhaust mani, downpipe, 3.5" intake etc, the price doesn't see too bad.

I want to stick with the black also for cost. I can get a black for $1800. Also its to much shit to change for the 750xp, even though the parts come with the kit, then my ported stock manifold, aluminum valve cover, AMS DP and part of the intake/uicp part are changed. Just much easier to stick to stock frame. I doubt ill be able to make 500hp on a Red so thats why i want to go black. Also if i decide to go for more power down the road there will still be room in the black. As well as if i can get quicker then 4000rpm for spool, that would be great.

Sweet thanks. Also will my Walbro 255lph and FIC 1100cc injectors be good enough? I know for 500hp they are but not sure if changing to a 2.4 will matter.

Honestly I would think you would need a little more, but again I am not a tuner. I am sure one would chime in here.
