Any interest in carputers?

CARPUTER BENEFITS:
-Full blown computer in your car!
-Evoscan gauges!
-Ditch Cobb AP and use Opensource! You can tune your car without needing to bring a laptop
-Best in car entertainment system ever! Open a hotspot with your smartphone and let your passenger surf the web, watch Netflix, youtube, etc.. all on a 7 inch screen
-Hook up multiple cameras and record everything! One forward facing dashcam, one rear facing, one facing your passenger, one recording the interior of your car; the possibilities are endless!
-GPS!
-If you computer can do it, your carputer can also!

So I'm thinking about starting a little carputer business here on the forum Trying to get a feel for whether there's enough interest here in my services to warrant me buying a mini-merchant account. My application was already approved - I just need to pay the fee

I'd be offering a few services/packages:

1) Consultation: Determine exactly what your needs are, give you an estimate of how much the system would run you, etc

PRICE: FREE!

2) Partial build: I'd assemble the computer for you (built to your specs or whatever I feel you need) and give you a list of everything else you will need to order to assemble the rest of the system. Unlimited tech support during your installation via Skype, phone, etc. I will also include pictures and an installation tutorial video.

PRICE: $75 + shipping for the computer to you + cost of parts for computer

3) Ready to install package:
I give you a list of everything you need for your system and you have everything shipped to me. I will make all of the cables/wiring you will need to install your system. Every wire will be labeled so you know exactly where to connect each wire. Includes pictures of exactly how you should run each wire.

Computer will be assembled, all requested software will be installed. All of your extra options (dashcam, rearview camera, DVD drive, etc) will be hooked up to ensure everything is functioning as intended.

Everything will then be packaged up and shipped back to you.

Again, you'll have unlimited tech support from me during your install

PRICE: $175 + shipping + parts

4) LAZY PACKAGE:
Too lazy to install anything? Drop your car off at my place one weekend and I will install everything for you. I'd be willing to travel a bit depending how far you are (I'm located in Boston)

PRICE: Varies depending on selected options

First local customer will receive a FREE install. I'm willing to do this so that I can take pictures and document the install with a video. Also, always helps to have an actual customer vouch for your quality of work

Any takers?

So by carputer, is that like one of those laptops that you have on a extendable tray that you can manage?

No an actual computer built into your car. It'd replace your headunit Full touchscreen and all

I can do in-dash computers (everything self contained inside a double DIN unit) or an external computer mounted in the trunk or under passenger seat.

In dash computer would be slightly trickier to install due to tight spacing and will likely be less powerful than an external unit (concerns about overheating since everything will be confined in a small area with limited ventilation).

Mac mini could be an option if you wanted to use OSX. Otherwise I'd build you one similar to the one I installed in my car. The footprint of carputer cases are very small

Its intriguing but I've seen them sell for a grip. How much is the total for all the parts with all the bells and whistles?
