Looking for a Job

Starting this thread up. Will post more when I'm not on my phone. NASIOC does this and has helped many forum members through tough times and career moves. Most companies also have employee referral incentives as well.

Thoughts on the idea are welcome.

EDIT: So we have this great mix of guys in a ton of different professions around the world. We have trade and skilled labor, desk jockeys, IT guys, oil guys, engineers of every kind, self-made custom A Pillar Pod entrepreneurs... Many of us have access to openings for labor of some kind and can provide referrals and introductions if needed. Those of you that just got your jobs since the beginning of the recession know that 99% of the time it's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know. This thread stands to benefit those looking for work, students graduating college, as well as the folks who make the referrals. If you need work or are looking for a career/location change, give this thread a try. 3 folks from NEEVO have already applied to my company in one way or another, and one got a job here very recently.

I personally know a LOT of people in the IT/web delivery world, and we have openings for every position you can think of-- from sales to marketing, finance, network engineering, etc.

What you should post:

Current Job Title:
Looking to Do:
Skills/Qualifications:
Location Desired:
Willing to Relocate?:

Good luck everyone

Good Idea,

The area I live (Fort McMurray, Alberta) needs people in all areas of expertise. Especailly skilled trades and people to supervise/manager them.

Most every company here offers relacation services and offer shift work which allows you to live in your home town and fly in for work. (7 days on 7 days off, 14 on 14 off etc) Most have camps for their employees or provide a housing allowance to cover renting a room in town while you are on shift. ( for example, I get $1550 a month for housing...)

I would be suprised if you can make more money as a trades person anywhere else in the world. Seriously.

I'll gladly provide anyone with information or point them in the right direction to a good company that works here and could use your skills!

Edit: Just took a quick look at our job posting board.... its 5 pages long... some of the positions we are currently hiring for. Finning.ca go check it out.

Shop and field journeymen mechanics (Apprentices can work in shop)
Journeymen and apprentice partsmen
Warehouse staff
Safety Advisors
Service Advisors
Service Supervisors
Project Managers
Service Managers
Sales Reps

Just to name a few

To elaborate to qualify for a TS you must be able to pass a federal background check conducted by OPM. http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/sf86.pdf read the form. If anything on there strikes you as iffy you may not qualify. Also if your in a state of toxic debt that can kill any chances of getting that type of security clearance.
