emissions is very easy to deal with here in NC. Lots of good ol boys who don't care about the regs. I've passed three years straight with a testpipe. As long as you don't throw a cel its easy to get by. SC is a good state to go to though. Cheaper cost of living and very friendly to gun owners as well. Also they usually have the cheapest gas in the country. Just try to stay near the coast otherwise you'll be bored as there isn't much to do in the rest of the state.

Trick is to find a shop that does a lot of volume and doesn't lift the car. I have a Jiffy Lube nearby that I go to. They don't ask questions, seem to appreciate my car, and have passed me and a buddy multiple times. First place I went to lifted the car and actually told me to go to a quick stop shop. They said they couldn't pass it but named off quite a few places they reccomended.
