Just Spooling Up
|
Just bought a 2010 Evo X, and have little experience with them. Mine is currently bone stock excluding the K&N Slip-In air filter and the UICP by a brand I didnt recognize right off. I am wanting to do a little modding, starting with but not limited to: turbo back exhaust, programmer of some kind, and full cold air intake.
I have done a little looking and love the sound of the Borla catback but am unsure what downpipe to use with that setup. Also with the DP, how can you tell whether it is a DP that replaces both the cat pipe and down pipe or just a replacement for the DP itself. I noticed some are longer than others but wasnt sure if there was some wording I am missing when I search for parts. Also what is better a two piece set up or just get one DP that does it all? As for a programmer I have a buddy that owns and STI and uses a Cobb AP. Do they work as well for the Evo line as they do for the STI's? Is ther another brand or tuner you all recommend to do a quick flash, for the mods im adding, to make the car run properly until I can mod a little more and get a pro tune. Intakes are another question entirely. Everywhere I look seems to include a UICP with their intake and I come from a muscle car kinda family where Flowmaster+K&N>ALL! So I am unsure on brands or what componets I need to look for. My X is my DD, so I am not looking to gain a retarded amount of HP or out run jet airplanes yet. Just need a little more pep and some tone to make it not sound like a Prius. Thanks in advance!! |

That doesn't help me make a decision at all lol! I passed up an Evo built by someone on this forum that was running E85 and putting like 600+ to the wheels and thought that was a bit much for a DD considering we dont have E85 withing 30 minutes of where I live.

Just take one thing at a time. Check out peoples build threads for ideas, etc. And id stick with a professional tune..but yeah the Cobb AP works the same

most people sell the ap after the basic bolt ons since it cant really support much more than an intake and exhaust, to fund a pro tune. their working on maps for cobbs 3-port there in beta and have been for over a year. cobbs deffinition of soon = some day after you sell your car we might get around to it.
