The flex is about 3x the price of ones mentioned. If your using it for your car as a hobby, your fine no need to spend that much unless you want to.

I guess my question was more of not which one to buy but is it worth buying. Because the swirls will eventually come back.

Yes, you can remove swirls by hand but will take longer, especially if you never done it before or swirls are deep. So is it worth it..... To me yes... Only you can make that choice.

[QUOTE=wwEvoXgsr;1376577]Were you able to keep it relatively swirl free since then?

There is still no real swirls in the paint, I wash her about once a week at least, depending on the weather.

I start off with a Foam wash ( just watch the video ) and then I do a 2 bucket method with grit gaurd installed.

I only use microfiber or a sheep skin hand mitt. I then use a drip method to drying (that you can see in the second video )

followed by blow drying out the cracks with my shop vac. then I take a very large microfiber drying towel to finish her off. I haven't had to add any wax to it because the opti coat is a permanent protection that last for a very long time (5+ years)

Foam gun to get a lot of the dirt off so you don't rub it in the paint

This is how I help dry the car so I can reduce the amount of rubbing I do in the paint. ( its my s2000 but you get the idea)

Either way to have swirl free paint it can take a lot of work

Damn Jabby I need to get on your level! I haven't fired up my pressure washer in years. Can you hook up that foam gun to a regular hose?

So by drying your car you spray water on it? I think your title was a little off on that second vid. However, Jabby, since it seems you know whats up with taking proper care of paint and washing your cars, would you say that it's bad to wash your car with a Meguires foam mit? (Or other brand). Also, would you highly recommend the Opti whatever 2.0? Ive been washing mine once a week and drying with an auto shammy.

Assuming you wash it once a week, IYO would it be better for the paint to take it to car wash and use the pressure washer just to wash it like you did then dry with shammy or micro towel? Without scrubbing/washing with mit?

Yeah I'm also wondering if you wash it with a mitt after you washed off the foam?

My question is, is it worth spending ~$300 on one of the kits even though the swirls will eventually return? I plan on using it for the swirls as well as the occasional wax and polish. Or should I just live with the swirls and that they will pretty always exist?
just to let you know, the paint on the evo is measured at 88 microns thick for primer, base coat and clear.

so the clear is only 30 microns thick.

not much to really polish there

How many microns are you going through with a swirl remover?

Basically the drying method I show in the video is taking most of the water off the car before you even have to wipe it down.

If the car is really dirty I use the 2 bucket method with a wash mitt to clean the car.

the Foam really just loosens up the dirt and gets most of it off so your not rubbing it into the paint with the mitt.

There is a foam gun you can just attach to a garden hose and it does the trick as well. just doesn't do the shaving cream effect like you saw in the video

I use a couple products from Meguiars so that that mitt should not be a problem.

Just never let it touch the ground and always clean it out before and after you wash your car.

I really like the opti coat 2.0 because it adds microns to the paint, its basically a permanent wax that protects from marring and scratching and swirls. I look at it like a shield for my paint. I have done over a dozen cars with it, with great success
