The 2010 has better tuning and feature support than newer models. I think 2011-2013 STILL have no cobb off the shelf maps (non-beta), a non issue if you're gonna get it tuned by a tuner. For opensource tuning 2008 and 2010 are the only years to support tephra mod (officially).

Like everyone said there's just really cosmetic changes. 2012 and 2013 added new colors. 2011 added ipod connectivity and bluetooth music streaming. 2011 also added leather and sunroof as options for the GSR. I believe 2011 or 2012 added some Super All Wheel control badge at the bottom of the rear window too.

I would try to find a local Evo X owner and have them check out the 2010 for you if you're considering it. If that's not possible, do a LOT of research on the forums to find out all the issues/problems with this car then write them down and bring a checklist of things to check on the car before buying. I think there's several threads that list the issues or things that new owners should look at/address.

If you do buy a new one skip the interior package (a shift knob and a leather/aluminum e-brake grip) and the Navigation unit. There are WAY better aftermarket options for much less money, very easy to install yourself.

I actually am and did search for my answer and couldn't find much. If you knew where the thread is, why not post a link rather than saying what you said? Wouldn't that help me out? And the dealer sales men I spoke with told me the car was a 2.4 liter engine, I think that says it all about how much he knows.

I know Ill shut up and lets just answer these for the 20th time.

Re: New 2013 or Used 2010

Let me put it this way. Since you seem to be capable of buying a new one, why not buy a used one and get the big things like engine and transmission out of the way immediately with the money you save?

Also, the chances of something being wrong in a used model are much lower than people insinuate. Do you really think 90% or even 20% of evos for Sale in the market are catastrophically going to fail? I don't think so. I would just look for a car that is as stock as possible and get a compression/leakdown test and take it from there. The only reason i did not buy a used one was that there were none in 2008.

Re: New 2013 or Used 2010

Extremely happy with my used 2010, and i only saved about $5k over new. Then again the car only had 30k miles on it. I made out well in my opinion.

2010 and previous use a different format for the mapping software? not sure but I've heard 2011 switched to some XML thing which isn't compatible with some tuning hardware.

2012 also switched from full synthetic oil to regular, rumor is it's because of the timing chain.

there are probably many undocumented changes as well, usually it's best to buy the newest car if is truly no object

There may be undocumented changes but nothing else you said is true. Evo still uses synthetic for all years and nothing has changed with flashing the ecu. Maps on the ecu change from year to year but that's it.

This is a false statement. Just many misinformed dealers I think
started that one. The Evo never changed from full synthetic.

I bought my 2008 in 2011 with 8k miles. Never had any serious issues. My CMC blew and I had a crack in one of my coolant hoses but that's all since I've had it. I say get the used one and save the money. It's really the same exact car
