Anyone not have an ACD pump failure who drives their car in the winter?

Since it seems like 3 new ACD failure threads pop up each week, especially now that is has been extremely cold the past week. Is this part guaranteed to fail if exposed to salt and extreme cold?

Just wondering has anyone been driving their car in the winter for a few years and not had a failure? Not looking for someone who has 6000 miles and has only seen half a winter so far. Mainly looking for cars that have seen 2-3+ winters.

Also for those who have had failures, what was the total cost to have it replaced? If you don't mind posting so others can know what to expect.

Mine failed after 3 Canadian winters and about 62,000 km (38,000 miles). Although it didn't fail (i.e. service requried message and codes C161d/e/f) until the middle of the summer after that last winter.

It would have cost me around $2,500 CDN to get it fixed at my dealership. But I got them to give me a break since I wasn't too far out of warranty and I was a good customer of theirs. In the end, I paid $500 for labour, and no charge on parts.

I'm under the impression that the Evo 9 (and Evo 8 too?) uses the exact same hydraulic pump, and is prone to the exact same failure isuses.

I believe it is less common on the older models.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the placement of them is under the hood on the passenger side.

Just seems pretty shitty, to have to replace a $2000 part within a few winters.

My third winter with lots of snow driving and my pump is still good. I get the service required message ones in a while when i beat on it but it goes away when the diffs cool down.
