Evo returned after severe accident.

Greetings to you all.

I picked up my Evo from the shop that it was at a few weeks ago. It had about 20k worth of work done to it, I posted the pictures in the crash thread on these forums.

Anyway, that being said, the car doesn't sound the same. They replaced the whole exhaust system (stock) but it just isn't the same... Or really even close. I plan on upgrading after my basic warranty is up (next year), but I shouldn't have to put up with my car sounding like a Camry with an exhaust leak until then... I want it to sound like an Evo, my Evo... My lawyer, the insurance company, the body shop were all NO help to me in this situation that I'm in.

I want to take it in to get a second opinion, but I don't have the finances available at the time. Anyone have any ideas on things I can check myself? I'm going to put it on a lift this weekend and take a look but it just doesn't make any sense to me...

Also, I feel like I've experienced a loss of power since I got the car back. I know the only way to know for sure is to load it onto an AWD Dyno... So I have that slated for the future. Just sucks!

Speaking as an adjuster, here's what I would suggest to do, as this is commonly an option for this type of situation: Take it to the dealer (I know) and have them review it. Tell them about the sound, and see if they can diagnose it. If it is found to be related to the accident, the shop and insurance company is on the hook, and you should contact them immediately to make sure it's paid for and covered. If it is found to be normal, or unrelated to the accident, you would be on the hook for the diagnosis. If it's bothering you that much, I'd have it checked out. Go with your gut, as 9/10 times, you're right.

Thank you for the reply. I think you're 100% right though, about the dealer situation... Ugh.

The 2011 catbacks were revised and louder / flowed more than the 08 and 2010's. They probably replaced yours with an 08 or 10' part which could be the discrepancy in sound you hear.

Man you should've taken the opportunity to get alot of aftermarket stuff while it was in the shop. OEM parts are crazy expensive.

Trade it in for a 2013. Problem fixed. It sounds like your mind maybe playing tricks on you because it was wrecked. It will never sound the same to you.
