I also don't trust ANY 4 point harnesses. I would never wear one, even the scrothe ralle 4 or whatever. Either 5 or 6 point WITH A ROLL BAR or the 3 point. Millions upon millions of dollars have been invested on vehicle safety, going in an whimsically changing said proven safety features without knowing much about race car safety is a bad idea.

Wow Nascar teams really are that dumb..... THERE'S A PERFECTLY GOOD HOLE FOR THE STRAP!!!

That was a driver preference on that one I believe.......Much has been talked about this subject and the consensus is like what Happy said; tons of engineering went into the stock safety systems and are all designed to work together. As the theory goes, harnesses with harness bars keep your torso locked in and upright in the event of a rollover but do not provide additional rollover protection therefore exposing your head and spine to being crushed when the roof collapses. The stock three point belt allows the torso to roll over the shoulder belt to help prevent this. It's kinda of an all or nothing thing. You should install a proper roll bar/cage, harness and race seat all together.
