Unhappy Buying Used Evo X

I believe this is correct spot for this posting as the other topics weren't appropriate.

What are some things I should look out for when buying a used Evo?
Right now I'm looking at a 2008 Evo GSR with 75k miles

Price wise its pretty good! Fairly uncommon to find them retailing for under $24k.

That said, it's been modded. I would inquire about that. See if they know anything about what's been done to it and who tuned it.
Turbo timers always concern me. It's the sign of a ricer who doesn't know what the hell they are doing, or someone who really drove the car hard and actually needed it.

Also, see if the timing chain has been updated.

Buying used Evos can be tricky. Check for the same issues as any used car. Additionally, you want to make sure if it is modded, that the mods are high quality and that it has a proper tune. The price is right on this car but if you feel like there are any issues with the car, go with your gut instinct and walk.

If I were to buy one again, I wouldn't do it without doing a compression test and logging casual driving and a WOT run in Evoscan.

Used Evo's with that many miles is like buying a used condom. You know something is going to go wrong.

dude I wish I never read that.. while having lunch !

OP, do a compression test, leak down test and also a boost leak test. Since its modded, please verify the tune. Take your time and do not rush into it.

I would just simply avoid it and move on.

High miles
Poor modifications
Error on dash
3 stikes

I much rather spend a few thousand more to get a used Evo with less miles on it.
