Lightbulb getting my K&N typhoon dialed in...

so i got my k&n typhoon just sitting around, i was going to put it on without a tune but then people told me that i should def get it tuned. does anyone know someone that could dial this part in for cheap. by dial in i mean tune just so the k&n runs safely, not really worried about power ( i love the sound ) at this point just safety. going to get a protune once i get all my parts together, im looking for a rather cheap option as money is tight right now...

using a ap v3.

thanks guy

you'll be fine running that intake without a tune.

Yup you'll be fine without a tune, and you can always buy used accessport for $200-250. Intake will gain you 15-20whp without tune. Just to give yourself a peace of mind, dyno your car after the install and ask them to run it with a wideband, most dyno are like $60.00 per 3 runs..

The K&N uses the stock Maf housing to you are fine without a tune. The dealer I bought my car from installs them without tuning.

Since you have an AP, check your fuel trims. If they are way off then you need to have things adjusted.

BTW, just because an intake uses the stock MAF housing doesn't necessarily mean the MAF table can stay the same.

agreed, but I did a intake with no tune and it's still running very rich and made around 15 whp over stock.

I'm happy it worked out for you. I think we can both agree that people shouldn't rely on that to happen with every car, though.

Yes that's why wideband is vey useful, 3 ways to make sure that he's running safe, 1. Go to a dyno and dyno it with a wideband.
2. Buy a wideband and monitor it.
3. Buy a used Accessport and run stage 1 Sf and monitor the knock sum.
