Unless you plan on going full roll cage
Safety = Fixed Back seat
Weight = A by-product of moving to racing seats

Also can run a 5-point without modifying stock seat, and will hold me in place better.

I have the Cobra SUZUKA Pro GT in my car (GT just means "for people with bigger asses"). They are excellent, but I wouldn't know anything about being better than the competition. The one thing that swayed me towards the Cobra seats is that they are all certified for use with a HANS device. Sparco seats are not always. Even the same seat in a different size will have a different HANS compatibility in Sparco, which is retarded IMO. The seat I wanted in Sparco was not HANS certified, so the choice was simple.

I purchased the seats from Harrison Motorsports (Mini and BMW Specialists) in Atlanta. They dropshipped them from Cobra.

BTW, the Buddy Club rails I used were absolute pieces of shit. They flex so much at the track that you can hear creaking sounds. grrrrr. I just purchased the Status racing brackets and handed everything over to Dino for the install once my motor is built.

Hope that helps. Here are some photos:

I'm 215 and have a 36 waist and am 6' 0.5". For the OP and even you, the non-GT should be just fine.

Fitment might be okay with other brands of seats, dunno. But with the Suzuka's, they really sucked. The thickness of the mounts is also really low. Compare to the Aluminum FIA bases I got from cobra, these steel ones were about 1/3 of the thickness. What was worse is that I could actually see some flex if I leaned on the seat. It was too late by the time I noticed it though. I also had to cut the mounting tabs on the rails to make them fit on the Cobra Seats.

Another good reason to get a new seat is the ability to run a 6 point harness rather than the ralleye 4 point one. 4 point is not ideal (ralleye 4 is acceptable), but 6 point is much better. Many people say that you need a cage and hans device if you are running a harness, though. It's a slippery slope...

Looking to replace both driver side and passenger side seats with wither Sparco or Recaro racing seats.

Reason for doing so:

1. Safety
2. Weight Reduction
3. Will keep my fat ass planted in the seat for once

The problem I am having though is that I know nothing about aftermarket seats, what to look for, what to get.
I was thinking about the:

Sparco Circuit II Drivers Seat
http://www.sparcousa.com/product/circuit-ii

Sparco Corsa Seat for Passenger
http://www.sparcousa.com/product/corsa

I am:
5’7
Medium Build
About 190 Pounds give or take
36 inch Waist

I will be running in NASA this season with intentions to start in TT
So my question is, is what I have listed a good start? The Stock Recaro’s have been ok for the past 2 seasons but I am looking to get something that will keep me in my seat a bit more.

Currently I run a Scrothe 4 point harness and install an autopower roll bar in the next couple of weeks.

I also don’t know what seat rails I should be looking for.
So Seats and Seat rails.. What are the best options out there? What is everyone else running?

Racetech.

The stock seats have airbags in them...

Fixed back seats are good. And that's why I said "unless you are going with a roll cage".

But safety wise the stock seats are going to be as safe or safer then any other seat unless you install a roll cage. And i mean a proper roll cage.

Now in terms of comfort and weight, that's fine. You can get some great weight savings out of replacing the seats. And if you want to go full race build, then that is a definite must. I agree

But for a DD/weekend warrior, you might get frustrated with a fixed back seat. Especially if you are a little heavier set as the seats you are talking about are literal buckets you have to squeeze into and out of. They're awesome, but not convenient.

I'm 6' 5"...does that make any difference? I have a 33 inch waste, but would my height necessitate the need for the GT?
