I just bought my 2010 GSR in Octane Blue. I want to put blue interior lights but it will clash with the red climate control lights. Does anyone know how to change out the lights?
ok lemme explain this image as i am quite proud of it. it is the most frustrating part of this and can easily lead to you throwing your circuit board out the window:dancebanana:. since all you guys on this forum help me with all kinds of various shit i figured id contribute something small Once you open up the control module and pull the circuit board out your gonna see 4 leds for each knob. The 4 squares represent where and how the leds are positioned. The dot on the square is positive and the line is negative. On the back of each 0603 you should see this ( well at least thats what mine had) all 3 knobs match up to that beatiful diagram i drew up :bowlol: man i wish i had this thing before i did it as i seriously wasted a good 3 + hours trying to figure out which was positive and which was negative. Also each knob has 2 of the leds ( ones runing down on each side ) on the same circuit so if you dont properly solder an led on neither will light up. just a heads up and a potential way to trouble shoot which led was soldered on poorly or improperly. Also after each knob i ran to the car and plugged in the board just to see if it all lit up.. i suggest u do the same to keep tabs on whats going on. every thing else is smooth sailing
Do you happen to have the manufacturer name and part number for the LEDs you used? May as well save others the trouble of guessing. There are different specs for 0603 LEDS. Thanks!
elementalcodes...nice work on the blue leds!! Now, I dare you to do it on your NAVI too
Actually, I might have to do this as well. Are the led's for the change hole/cig lighter area mounted to a PCB around there too? Its been a while since I took apart my dash so I don't remember...

^^ like an idiot i didnt think to take pictures... and almost everything is done :wallbash:. All thats left is lcd screen which i still have to tinker with a little bit and the navi controls. Ill take some pics of that but no telling when its done as free time is hard to come by lol
I can finally laugh about it. Got my first pair working! I had the LED on backwards this whole time. Was readying all over the place and thought I had it in the right direction, now flipped...it worked. After 8 led sacraficed (thought it was my soder), it's all good now! I'll start taking pics for those that need reference...
The picture brings out more blue in the white LEDs I put in. But they are white...just not crazy white like the tach gauges. But better then orange...
elementalcode - do you know what LED they use for the 2 ash tray lights? I just left them on right now since they look to be a special type that shoots sideways.
5. once it's out...4 long screws to remove (2 on each side)
6. 4 more screw and 4 clips removes the back of the circuit board.
7. pull all 3 knob pieces off (it's only clip on the knob side)
8. 5 small phillips screws to remove the board
9. then a couple of the snap clip on the 3 knobs and the board should come loose.
you should be able to figure it out from there....have fun
**Note, i'm not responsible if you break something **
What I really want to know is what color does it change to???? Cuz the factory one changes like 3 colors, red, orange and green. What does yours change too?????????
It only changes for certain messages. Normal operation is red and maintenance messages are yellow, but I have not seen green before...
