Understanding Install on 5-channel amp + aftermarket system

Hi guys.

I am totally new to the audio world.
I have a Pioneer AVH4000nex headunit and Alpine PDX-V9 5 channel amp.
My car came with 2 front door tweeters, 2 door speakers, and a sub.

I understand that I can wire 4 speakers to the headunit (4x50W, within 4-8ohms) and 4 speakers to the amp + 1 subwoofer.

I want to understand how to go about this. Taking the car apart is no problem, but understanding the wiring is.

Do I wire the 2 tweeters to the headunit; the 2 front door speakers/2 rear door speakers/sub to the amp?

thanks.

It sounds from your description like you have the OE Rockford Fosgate system.
The Rockford Fosgate system uses 2ohm door speakers. 2-way components in the front and 2-way coaxial in the rear. The amp is under the driver's seat and handles the DSP and crossover internally and all the speaker wires run out from that point.

Unless you're replacing all of the speakers, I would skip replacing the factory amp and just retain it with a CANBUS adapter for your AVH4000nex.

Get a MITO-02 and hook it up to the corresponding outputs on the Pioneer and you should be ready to go.

If you're dead set on replacing the amp you'll need to find some sort of crossover for the front speakers and you'll be hacking up the factory harness. There's a writeup below. IMO, it's only worth replacing the amp if you're upgrading the speakers and sub.

Thank you for your response, Splatt. My apologies, I should've been more direct. All of my sound system is aftermarket. The 4 speakers in the front door + sub + amp + headunit. However, the speakers are crap and the amp can take way more sub.

I, however, am not convinced with the job of the previous owner. This is why I'm curious on how to wire the rear door speakers to the amp and the front door tweeters to the headunit.

That makes more sense! The front components should be wired to a crossover so you'd have 1 channel per door. I would use the 4 channels of the amp to power the 4 doors and then the 5th channel for the sub and bypass the head unit amp entirely.

Splatt, thank you!
I'll do that. If I want to connect 1" front door tweeters to the headunit, how am I supposed to go about it?

Get a tweeter thats rated to about 75-80% of RMS power from the headunit, and get a proper crossover to cancel out the low frequencies that would kill it otherwise.
