Evo x big turbo upgrade

Hi All,

Looking at putting a bigger turbo in the car whilst keeping a stock block.
I've heard the stock internals should be good for up to 500Whp,
Is this true?
Also, how does the stock clutch, gearbox, transfer case hold up with that amount of power?

Cheers,

Aslong as torque is kept resonable, (400wtq is about the limit is what ive heard for the most part) it should hold 500whp reliably. The drivetrain will hold as well but not as long as with stock power (obviously). How long is hard to tell, that depends on how much abuse it has seen so far.

Its more about staying below 400wtq on stock bottom end.
Clutch depends on how often you are launching with that power.

Gearbox and transfer case are fine, but everything wears eventually if you run it hard enough.

Upgrade the clutch at the same time or it will cost more in the long run.

Thanks All, I'll bear all that in mind.
Might throw a new clutch in at the same time.

Stock clutch is fine with stock block power limitations. I would upgrade the clutch when you need to. if your stocker is absolutely fine then just run it, it will cost you more replacing it on its own as oppose to waiting until you build the motor. Most shops will install the clutch free basically when you drop the motor. Also, The stock clutch can hold 450wtq just fine as well. Just don't launch the darn thing and you'll get some good life out of it.

PS: There is nothing wrong with upgrading the clutch before it is worn out. Just stating that its not a mandatory requirement for the power levels that you're seeking.

I know a guy making 597whp/420wtq on the stock clutch still, doesn't launch it though.

Dang that's crazy. I don't see that clutch lasting very long with that much power regardless of being launched or not.
