I easily keep up, very close to him actually.....until I realise in all the excitement that I'm in s-sport manual and I should have probably up-shifted at least 2500rpm ago!!!! Poor thing was bouncing on the redline ?. This was my first "race" and holy crap once that boost comes on it gets high in the rev range very quickly.
The whole experience consumed all of my senses and I clearly wasn't paying enough attention to my rpm, all I was worried about was showing this STI that I could tailgate him while he was WOT.
Once I realised what I had done I got a sick feeling and worried what over revving could have done to my car....
It seems to drive fine and there were no warnings that came up but I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of what to check/look out for to be sure?

If you are honestly worried, I'd suggest creating a new thread asking for advice. Make sure you are clear on exactly what happened (as in were you bouncing off the rev limiter for like 5-10 seconds or just a sec/etc). I have a GSR but my guess would be you are likely fine. It should take more than just one rev limit bounce to damage an SST from Getrag. Also, the rev limiter is put in place to prevent overspinning and damaging any components. Does that mean you should just bounce off it? No. But it does mean that it's generally a safety feature.

For other opinions, again, it'd be best to create your own thread.

Better question is why do other EVO owners rarely wave? I had 2 STI’s before getting into my EVO and I used to wave at other STIs/WRXs (and EVOs too) just to be courteous. But after owning my EVO for a year I’ve found that I almost NEVER get a wave back from other EVO owners. What’s the deal?

*******s that aren't enthusiasts are everywhere.

There is a guy around me white a white evo. I waved to him all the time. Nothing. Finally stopped next to him one day (although in my truck). And was like hey man, I drive the black evo. Blah blah blah.

He barely even talked to me, asked him if we modified it, what year. Just wouldn't talk to me. Like I was trying to steal it or something. Lol

It must be a white EVO thing lol. There’s a guy with a white EVO around me that refuses to wave. I’ve never had a chance to look at the car up close but from passing by I can tell it’s pretty heavily modified (flared and lowered). So I’d assume the guy has some interest in the car/car scene. I don’t know maybe he just thinks he’s better than the other EVOs in our area. His loss lol

Normally I look straight ahead while holding my rpms at 5k until the light turns green... Kidding, a friendly wave and generally most people will see you aren't one of "those people" and return it!
