Stuck rear brake pads

I am in the middle of replacing my pads and rotors. Fronts were pretty easy besides the pins being seized and requiring a lot of hammering to get them out. Rears required even more hammering to get the pins out. I removed the rear caliper thinking the pads would just fall out like the fronts when the pins were removed, but both rear pads are stuck inside the rotor. Is there a trick to getting them out? I tried using a punch to knock them out, but it ended up breaking apart the pad material. I posted a pic showing the pads inside the caliper. By the way, e-brake is not on and the car is in neutral.

I have never had an issue removing the pads through the top of my caliper in the 9 years I have owned my car.

Not sure what is happening with your bake change bro. At this point why not put a pry bar or a wide screw driver in between the pad a caliper body and twist it.

Your first step should be to retract the pistons by levering between the old pad and the rotor (and opening the respective bleeder screw so the old fluid does not go back to the MC). Then, the pads will clear the lip on the rotor.

NOTE: If there is enough of a lip worn into the rotors to retain the pads, the rotors need to be replaced. They are worn beyond machining.

Replace the pins and spring clips.

Looks like the pads may be seized to the caliper piston.
