I'll try and get some more updates here shortly, possibly doing a JPG image of a chart might work out better.

(asking genuine opinions with facts here gents)
Is it even worth getting springs without the dampeners too? I know eibach, h&r and tein make great stuff and the car might look better with less fender-wheel gap but seriously, is there any performance appeal?

My SE has the MR Bilsteins, correct? What are my options for suspension STIFFENING but retaining stock ride height?

Springs alone are mostly for looks, although if not made overly stiff for the amount of drop they can be a slight help in some areas. I found that the Eibach were slightly to big of a drop and for larger bumps and dips they progressive spring rate would overpower the stock shocks. So for smooth roads it was a slight handling upgrade, a wash on moderate roads, and on bumpy roads handling got worse for sure.

Yes, the Evo X SE has the MR Bilsteins which are decent shocks. You could get stiffer springs that have a minimal drop, then send the shocks out to Bilstein to get them revalved to match the higher spring rate.

If you want some adjustability you could also go with a moderately priced coilover setup and keep ride height at stock levels or maybe .5" lowered for a better handling stiffer setup. Probably 8k front/8k rear spring rates with appropriately matched valving on the shocks would work well. I'm just assuming that you are looking at street use here.

there seems to be no difference in the jic ftl tar hard and the jic ftl rs as far as spring rates or adjustability. are the rs lighter? or are the changes more repeatable?

one of the problems i know of with cheap coilovers is that they are not repeatable. as in if it is at full soft, you adjust to full hard, then back to full soft. the full soft points will be two different rates but the same position on the dial. thats the reason real racing coilovers are so expensive is because of the repeatability.
