Problems starting

Not had my Evo X long but recently the starter motor turns over slowly but after a couple of seconds it does fire up. I have had a couple of times when it took several attempts to get it started. After 5 minutes or so it would fire randomly and then die. Eventually it fire's up.

Also the Rockford Fosgate started clicking after the ignition has been turned on. It goes off eventually. This problem seemed to start at the same time.

Any suggestions?

Is the car new or did you buy it used?

Have you tried a new battery or had the one in it tested.

You could check the terminals on the battery and see if they are corroded. A bad connection may cause some of those problems. Also turn the key to ACC or whatever it is and wait for about a second and then turn it on. Even if the terminals don't look terrible and only has some corrosion I would take a wire brush to them and clean it up.

So you bought it used... from a dealer or a private seller?

Go back to the dealer and demand they fix the issue. If it is just a case of replacing the battery I'm sure they wont mind

+1 a dealer should at the very least ensure that the battery is new when they do their inspection on the car - it's kind of the point of buying the car from a dealer instead of privately. Dealers should give you piece of mind...

Unless of course you just purchased a $500 tercel and expect it to work...
