Aftermarket head unit

Curious as to what everyone is rocking in terms of aftermarket head units besides the android one? I'm in the market, and I would prefer one that has apple car play. Also, how does it sit compared to OEM? (is it flush, etc)

I have seen the Android head units. They are pretty popular in the Evo X’s

Wondering the exact same thing. I have the nice, factory radio in my MR BUT the updates through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are a much better option. My mapping data is from 2013. Ha....

I have a Pioneer AVIC series unit with Apple Carplay and it is very nice upgrade over OEM. The Scosche double din kit looks pretty good but it doesnt have the silver trim above the radio. The only thing I miss are the vehicle specific settings and maintenance tracking that the OEM RF unit does.

Appreciate you sharing back with us. Ugh. Very frustrating. Especially with the hard-drive built in that I cannot simply run CarPlay. The touch interface is likely a HUGE issue though. Wish good ole Mitsubishi actually did packages. This is something even Ford got right.

I went ahead and had a AVH-4200nex installed with the sirius tuner and steering wheel control module. I couldn't be happier with the end result. CarPlay runs great, I had a switch installed for the bypass and no issues occurred. Again, as stated before the negative is the dash kit. The silver trim was a nice touch and made the interior look a bit sharper. I did find a dash kit with the silver trim that Amazon was selling as a package with the head unit I chose. American International® MITK894 - Single/Double DIN Stereo Dash Kit. I will be purchasing that and swapping out the Scosche kit to compare fitment.

I have always had bad luck with aftermarket units, but I am not very sophisticated with electrical units. Even installed by pros, mine have not sounded great in the past.

Were you or anyone able to retain Bluetooth controls? A lot of posts say no but they are also 7+ years old.

Is it possible to change the unit in the MR to an android etc? Can't find any answer on this. I have the rockford system and nav, and that doesn't seem to be a problem. BUT, what I'm wondering is, how is it going to be with all the settings that I can acces via the original head unit? There's settings for DRL, locking, anit theft, wipers and lots of other rhings. Can I access this from an orher unit somehow, or is it impossible to change? Haven't found anyone who has change it in an MR, thankfull for answers 😋
