So far in San Diego CA, two Evo X have given me thumbs up. I do see a lot of 2015+ STI in So Cal. Coming home from Lancaster, I cruised with a WW Evo X from Irvine to the San Clemente Exit. His car sounded nice but I noticed he removed his mufflers and exhaust tips lol.

(Disclaimer I'm a noob evo owner) A few days ago I was turning onto a highway and I see a modded STI up ahead. I decide to cruise up to let him know I'm there. Next roundabout we take a lane each and have a little race before the road goes back to one lane. I let him go ahead and as the road straightens up he gives it all it's got. I easily keep up, very close to him actually.....until I realise in all the excitement that I'm in s-sport manual and I should have probably up-shifted at least 2500rpm ago!!!! Poor thing was bouncing on the redline ?. This was my first "race" and holy crap once that boost comes on it gets high in the rev range very quickly.
The whole experience consumed all of my senses and I clearly wasn't paying enough attention to my rpm, all I was worried about was showing this STI that I could tailgate him while he was WOT.
Once I realised what I had done I got a sick feeling and worried what over revving could have done to my car....
It seems to drive fine and there were no warnings that came up but I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of what to check/look out for to be sure?

I always wave or give a thumbs up, and the majority of the time, I get a wave back. Most of the STi/WRX owners I've met are very cool!

Depends on the owner. Most of the STi owners around my area are a bunch of immature stuck up kids so I just ignore them. I do know 2 who are chill dudes. If I see them, we always gotta stop somewhere and chat for a few.
Generally, our Evo community doesn't get along well with the STi guys lol
