Buy another evo or import a supra?

Long story short, owned my GSR from the day i bought it off the floor in 2012 till i sold it earlier this year. Bought a new sierra, but still am missing the "race car" life. With the 25 year import laws being lifted on the Mk4s from japan starting this year, due to them coming of age and forward, should i stick with Mitsu or try to go the supra route? im looking at possibly doing a project evo if i can find one at auction, or saving for a supra to import. price range for both, from my research would be 8-15k, considering more work would need to be put in once i owned the vehicle.

I've owned an MK4. It's actually what I had before buying the Supra. If you're going to daily drive it, simply don't do it. They're uncomfortable as fucking hell to daily drive, and its just not enjoyable. If it's going to be a weekend car that you build and tinker on, then i would say go for it. It's a beautiful car.

Yeah, if you plan on driving this car somewhat, don't go there. You will be quickly met with all sorts of aging car issues ,that are not huge but little here and there. It will be a love-hate relationship. Also, to get it to power levels where it is something special, you would spend another few grands, and the you will be met with old suspension, and that would need to be changed as well.

The only way I see owning a supra is buying it and dumping 20 grands to make it like new...

I'm in the same boat, and by no means have disposable income but my thought process is this. Get what you haven't had yet. Don't like it? Sell it, and move back into what you're used to.

In my opinion the experience alone would be worth any loss you might take if you sold the Supra to jump into something else. But it being a Supra, you probably wouldn't lose anything if you did sell it.

Definitely would be a weekend/tinker car, as I have my truck now as my daily. I think just finding the right car, at the right price is what I'm looking at now.

Excellent points.
I get excited looking at these nice Supras and Skyline but most owners dump 20k+ easy on these cars not including purchase price. You gotta deal with bringing everything up do date. Usually rebuilt engine, tranny new turbos every single suspension component replaced. Repaint or paint correction ect. Plus Mods. Personally I think It's just to much if you're in a budget.
