Evo X - E85 Flex Sensor Engine Light

Hi All,

So i recently got E85 Flex Tune on my car with the zeitronix flex sensor.

However when i picked up the car, the tuner said the engine light would flash sometimes caused by the sensor and it is normal.

He also mentions that some tuners disable either the light or rewires to avoid the engine light appearing.

Another thing is recently i gave the car a boost and the engine light wont dissapear, it is constant now

However i want to know
- Is the engine light flashing normal?

Thank you

You can set the check engine light to flash at you if the ECU registers any knocking..

But yours sounds different. So I would say not normal.

If I were you, I would read the code set by the check engine light, to see what is says

On a flex fuel tune on start up the car will flash CEL for how much % you have but if its doing it while you drive then that is a problem

I have a flex fuel setup using the same equipment. Mine flashes if I hit limiter too much which would probably cause phantom knock. It’s unlikely to knock on e85 from what I’ve been told.

Mine also flashes if the ethanol content is fluctuating. Ie. when I mix 98 in and it drops, then it flashes as the analyser value is changing.

It should be pretty stable when driving, so it really shouldn’t flash during normal driving. If it does fluctuate when driving causing the CEL to come on it may be due to the fuel become aerated. Check your inline or sock fuel filter to make sure it’s not dirty or picked up some crud. You can test this by putting some clear hose and some barbs on the fuel return line. Should basically be no bubbles.

Hi All,

Thanks for the input.

I have spoken with the tuner and he said it might be a boost cut.

Will be sending the car back to him next Saturday

Will keep you posted

Thanks
