found this on a Subie forum. looks like Subaru left a lot on the table power-wise just like the X.

mods are full turbo-back exhaust, although it says "CBE"

not saying it will romp on an equally modded X, but just letting the community know that you can't take a new STI for granted out there. :shades:

^ it's not that bad, really. I saw it in person and didn't mind it. But in comparison to the Evo X, when you combine good looks and equal or better performance, the only thing to push you into an STI is price, features and design, 5 door over 4 door. If these don't matter to you then you go with the Evo X GSR.

nice to see that the X has some competition. :)

They said a 'conservative tune' so does that mean they've actually fettled the computer?

The numbers we're seeing are for the X currently from AMS and the others are without the ECU being touched.

Yup, they've used the Cobb Tuning Accessport V2.0 to upload modified ECU programs/maps. Conservative and 91 octane means they have left some power on the table. Also, it appears they have only improved the breathing out the back end with a turbo back exhaust. Not sure if this means it is completely de-catted, I doubt it.

On the same kind of dyno, an equally modded X will make 330-340whp/340-350lbft, btw.

And this is with an 'un-touched ECU correct??

Yes, I do like the new Sti. But it seems a little pricey and only 2 options to chose from in the US. Just like it was when I bought my '03 VIII. I like the 5 door idea too. I have 2 dogs, a daughter, and we do enough things to put to use the 'wagon'.

I am so anxious to see results to tuning a stock X with no mods. This should be very interesting. And even more so once the tunning begins to support mods that are getting bolted on. I see major gains here.
