2010 Evo X GSR Rides Too Rough

I bought my very first evo recently and have owned it for about 3 months now. It's a 2010 GSR. Overall I am very happy with the car except the suspension. It is a little too stiff/harsh for my tastes. I am assuming the suspension is supposed to be stiff for the autoX crowd or whatever, but the ride seems too bumpy for me especially on these rough a** Oklahoma roads! What do you guys suggest to soften up the suspension to get that so called "cadillac" ride? Any options?

A Cadillac.
:duh:

Are you serious? Didn't you drive it before you bought it? Don't think there's much you can do. Without destroying the car that is.
Coilovers.
Coilovers.
Lol. I love this forum.
No joke, coilovers.

Some of the ones not geared for track performance ride better than stock.

I have Swift springs and my buddy's Stance coilover setup is much more comfy. They're GR+ or somethin? I don't know their models, I just know it's Stance and it's not track-oriented at all.

Serious, yes. I did test drive it, but it was pretty much all highway driving around where the dealer was located. I live about 30 miles outside of town though where the roads aren't so great and the car nearly bumps me to death to and from work. I have done a little reading and supposedly the MR suspesion is softer? May be a myth though.

So would I need complete new coilovers, or can the factory ones be disassembled and just replace the spring or shock body individually?
Omg, you don't want coilovers. You may not want an Evo.

Best to replace the GSR suspension with a used MR setup or maybe the original swifts as those are pretty soft with stock GSR valving. If that doesn't do it there may not be hope for you.

I GUESS you could do coilovers with insanely soft springs if they can actually valve them for you but you wil want to stay near stock height to keep from bottoming.

Dude, the evo is not for you. The evo was built for the "autoX crowd". I tell this to people all the time, you need to know what you are getting into. If you dont canyon carve or auto/rally X or HPDE and evo is a bad choice. Sure bragging rights are cool, but this is clearly not the car for you. You need something that combines luxury and performance out of the box. The evo is a performance car nearly exclusively. The coolest ones run about 95db+ in the cabin and destroy kidneys from 25 feet away. In the future do some research before buying. You can not "fix" the suspension without fucking up the car. And trust homie, the stock GSR suspension is SOFT compared to a real setup. Get a 3 series bimmer.

I have the original swifts on GSR shocks and it's like driving without a suspension lol. My wife nearly needed spinal surgery after driving on a rough stretch of I-79.

Not sure I would go that far. Mine has a relatively aggressive setup but can be dialed back to the approximate feel of the stock GSR. Also, there are some good exhausts that will not send you to an ENT.

That said, to those who like a performance car, the GSR setup is pretty comfy and has great matching between the valving and springs for an OEM suspension.

The car I drove with the first set of swifts was pretty soft and actually would bottom out on hard cornering. You sure you aren't talking the newer style?

I meant the cool ones dont have carpets.
This thread is so full of fail I don't know where to begin.

Ahhhh got it. Complete sellout to track use.
This forum becomes more like the "other" forum day by day. If the guy wants his car to ride better, he has the right to ask. You may not agree with doing it to your car but he wants to and he has all the right to do whatever he wants to his OWN car. If you have nothing constructive to add or dont agree with what he wants dont say anything.
get stance coilovers and some 20's...will ride smooth:)

Its more like the other forum because these questions are being asked. You dont want negative feedback stay off the net. This guy will never be happy with an EVO because he bought a pig in a poke. He needs out of the ride to be happy. The ones helping him are we realistic few. He will VIP mod the shit out of it and get shitty results and sell it 6 months from now because he isnt happy and will be thousands of dollars poorer. People need to stop acting like telling people what they want to hear is help.
