So, I just picked this thing up 3 days ago in black and am having a lot of fun driving it. I was curious though what do you guys think the first or maybe only mods should be if any.. I've seen CAI/SRI, exhaust, lowering it, but wasn't sure what I should be looking to do first for a little more power and better ride.

I've never had a little sports car always been a jeep man my self but gas is just ridiculous and I don't need that thing in suburban chicago :)

Thanks guys.

first off, welcome! Post some pics of your car! I always thought that the sportback was a great car!

How much are you willing to spend?
How much power/handling upgrades to you want?
What are your goals?
Do you want/enjoy a warranty?

Once you speak to this, we can give you a better understanding from there.

In the meantime, I would get a Cosworth drop in air filter, and after break in period if new, switch to a full synthetic motor oil. The cosworth will grant a few more hp, and some better mpg (when not getting on the throttle so much).

Welcome and post up some pics or a vid!:yay:

Hmm

Well my budget is limited at the moment I'm thinking of putting in about 1500$. And I don't want to lose my warranty so I wasn't even sure if the warranty allows me to alter things? My buddy is actually the head guy in the maintenance department at a dealership by me so I'm not terribly concerned. He already told me around 55,000 miles to bring the car in and he'll get me a new engine and tranny lol.

But back to the point.

I'm looking for a few more ponies, nothing wild like a turbo, and still keeping my mpg high (averaging about 28 right now). From my research so far I was thinking SRI instead of CAI due to my fear of one puddle just wrecking my car.

Would an exhaust and new intake give me anything even noticeable though?..

Pics will come soon doing all my posting sitting at my boring ass job :)

Thanks!!

CVT or M/T, Go with the SRI, and an Axle-Back, you should see about 10whp tops.
