Hi Guys,

First timer here so be gentle.

I had an order in for a 2012 STi and cancelled it due to continually reading the ring-land issues, I have several Evo owner friends who just love their cars.

I learned to drive on stick and feel a little bit like a traitor getting the MR, but fell in love with it when I test drove it. I also have a 93 Mazda Rx7 that I use for tracking, but sadly has been in storage since I bought a house.

My order was quoted a 3-month allocation time to get the MR and on the sheet it says 03.18.12 delivery date. Does anyone have experience on the actual wait times for an order, it hit the system officially 12/16/11, which obviously is not much time since but curiosity killed the cat.

They are usually pretty spot on with delivery dates, especially with the high trim vehicles like the EVO's. Made a good choice brotha

Congrats man. Read up on the SST because it'll lay the ground work for the mods to come.

congrats!! Just make sure you're 100% okay with not driving manual. If I had a second car that was manual, I might have kept the MR. Either way, good choice on the Evo. I almost got a STI after the MR, but also read about how common the ringland failure was and got another Evo :)

Thanks, my parents are ok with storing the car for me until I get a larger garage so I intend on keeping the Rx7 as my "manual" car.

I do stuck in traffic a lot for my drive to work so I won't miss stick in that regards, I may miss the epic heel-toe downshifting and all that, but again I got the 7!

I was told 3 months, turned out to be about 8 weeks.

Barring any problems with weather, nuke plants melting down, or somebody starting a war..N. korea, you should see it before too long.

Bit of advice, don't let the dealership detail the car. Tell them you want it with all the plastic on, detail it yourself.

Second bit of advice, go ahead and buy some winter tires.

Third, buy weathertech floor mats.

More...start looking locally for somebody that installs clear bra.

And more, when you pick up the car check the fuel relay and see if it's blue.

Lastly, if you're looking for more stuff to buy.. start looking at summer wheels, keep your OEM for winter and there's really no reason to wait to add minor modifications... buy exhaust and so on.

In fairness, the Subaru ring-land issue is exclusively what happens when you mod and don't tune. Old friend of mine has worked for Subaru for years and the topic came up recently. Every single one that he has seen fail has been the result of modding and no tuning, bad tuning, etc. Never on a stock car.

Congrats!

I too ordered a '12 GSR and was quoted 3/7/12 for a delivery date (build date being 1/15/12). My dealer said since it's the first run, it MAY take a little longer, but I hope not...I've been waiting forever. I've been speaking with dealerships since Sept, and ordered in Nov, so March can't come soon enough.

Ordered a Rally Red for those wondering

Congrats man! what are your thoughts on mods for it?

Sent from my iPhone using Autoguide
I'm going to try to keep performance mods to a minimum while it is under warranty.

Exterior stuff would be replacing the DRL with a more white bulb, replacing the fender vent with a carbon fiber vent, and maybe doing a gauge pod in the interior for starts. Debating how that cp-e one looks.

Good stuff! Sounds like you have it all planned out unlike me when I first got mine lol. Flipping the paddle with 0 percentage of shifting error won't ever be as satisfying as a sloppy heel toe revmatch downshift, but you will never fail!

Excellent choice! Can't give any insight on delivery dates, for all the Evo 8 (2) 2003 blk GS, 2005 GG MR I bought, were right off the showroom floor.

Last year, I bought the 2010 MR used and have not regretted giving up the stick at all. Believe me, you'll enjoy it as much as I have mine!

As for mudflaps, I have the rally armor UR ones, and they do rock!
