I've been wanting to see this kind of thread so I figured I'd start it. Need the experienced people to help out since I'm the one asking for information lol. Basically what I want to know is, for the more common aftermarket turbo upgrade choices, what are the REQUIRED supporting mods and what are good supporting mods to have for conservative reasons. Let's assume you have all the basic bolt ons (UICP, FMIC, test, CBE) and with the understanding that a TUNE is the most important thing. At what point MUST you start digging into your head or block? Do they ALL basically require FP/injectors?

To get the full potential from one, yes, a fuel pump and injectors are needed. For the bigger ones you'll definitely want cams. A lot of people suggest a built motor for most turbos FPRed-sized and up. That's because the torque is so much higher, which is what kills our engines.

Question:
When you say "built engine" what all does this mean? It's kinda like saying bolt-ons, which can encompass quite a bit. Would we need to spend $3-4k rebuiding the entire bottom, or would new rods, pistons/wrist pins, maybe bearing caps, would this suffice?

I think passing 400tq needs stronger pistons and rods...fuel pump and injectors
are needed to maximize the full potential as mentioned above^^^
my tq was kept under 380 and after 15k miles and countless launches my car
is still in perfect condt'n (except for the clutch that was replaced lol)
