I just ordered a 2011 GSR and am debating sending it to AMS to have the package put on for the car to run at about 500-600 horsepower... It's gonna be a DD, any input from you guys would be great considering my knowledge is kinda limited

If your knowledge is limited then I would learn more about the car before modding it. That's a recipe for disaster. Besides, when you hit 500-600 HP you need to be able to perform maintenance and recognize when problems are arising. On top of that, the AMS kit is just boring. There's no fun in doing a pre-packaged build. You can get that level of power for a lot cheaper if you mix and match.

Well, yeah, it's a 21 thousand American dollar package. It's awesome. So is sex with a super model. But most people don't have sex with a super model, we have sex with our hands.

If you can swing the cost, go for it.

Lol cost really isn't an issue, and I do know a bit I'm just by no means an expert. Call me a poor sportsman but I'd rather just send it off for 2 months instead of slowly upgrading...but that's just my personal opinion...is the AMS package relatively reliable? I hear they know what they are doing and so I don't mind spending a but extra

do you live near ams? if you can drive there a couple times a year to have them baby the car and thats worth it to you, then sure, go for it. but you haven't even driven the car stock, or with just bolt-ons and a tune. its one thing to say ' i want a 600whp awd turbo DD'. its another thing to actually live with it. i doubt its what your expecting.

So you're like, what, 3 fucking years from doing this? Come back then. That's a huge fucking amount of time. Have fun for 3 years driving a slow piece of shit, only to be staring at that AMS package every single day.

So what exactly are you asking? Should you send your car to AMS after 30,000 miles on the odo? Yes. Do it. If you can afford it, you'll be envied by people other than Jkapinos... more importantly, your present self will envy your future self, and your future self will pity the fuel.

OP, Its good that you are admitting to the fact you are not knowledgeable in the area and just know what you want. Not everyone has countless hours to scourge over forums learning car stuff. If you can swing the money, like everyone else has said, go for it! Talk to AMS about your goals and they will explain in just enough detail, so you don't drown in it and end up in more confusion than you began with.

Yeah. I'm not seeing a whole lot of reason why NOT to do it, unless you have some fascination with doing something outside of what they offer, or doing something "custom".

Personally, having done a build myself, I have no desire to do a "small" motor and a "big" turbo; that's not what personally appealed to me. However, if gifted 30 thousand American dollars, I'm sure I could have called up AMS and had them do a 2.5L FP Black build as well. Don't look at the AMS 900x package as the only option out there, they can do whatever the hell you want.

if you have 30k to do the AMS package...seems kind of retarted that you want to wait on the warranty to run out...daily driving a 900x...I wish i was you

have you actually defined your needs? what whp? what are you going to use it for? (tracking or just always DD).. am not sure if the 900x is DD package that I would choose. AMS may be able to hook you up with an alternative package if you are clear about what you want. If you have the money, get them to do a good custom package for you.
