AMS UICP Installation Guide

Hey guys, I have just picked up my AMS Upper Intercooler Pipe, the package didn't seem to come with instructions and I'm not sure if it's me, but I didn't seem to find any installation guides specific to the AMS UICP, can you guys help me find an installation guide? I know it's an easy install and requires minimal knowledge, but this is my first DIY mission and I really don't want to mess up anything up at all!

Thanks!

should help with the AMS too I suppose :) its easy trust me man !!
If you can figure out how to unlatch and prop your hood open, you can install a UIP. Way too easy to need a guide. Its probably .007/10 on the scale
Thanks for the link dj_xmx, I actually stumbled upon the same document. Well, you guys do actually make a point. Alright, will try to install it anyway and will post pictures of my the outcome in a couple of hours.
Alright, so I installed the AMS UICP myself by just looking at images of other Xs that already installed it and tried to setup the pieces together.

It was kind of difficult to take off the OEM coupling at the IC's side because i chose not remove the front bumper (I didn't have a Wrench Screwdriver either) but I managed to get around that problem anyway.

The disaster that happened is that I didn't crazy tighten the clamps on the coupling that goes to the turbo and went for a test drive. When i stepped on it and hit 3K RPM, i heard a strong airflow kind of noise from the engine bay, the car pulled back as if the power source was completely cut off. Apparently the coupling to the turbo snapped off, newbie moment here, lesson learned. I tightened everything and went for another test driver and it was all smooth and good.

Excuse the quality, it was at night, not enough light and was taken with an iPhone 4.

When i was searching around the forums to know what kind of noise you can expect from installing an UICP, everyone said that the noise is barely noticeable. My god! The sound that I hear when the turbo kicks (I think it's called spooling) in at 3K RPM is SEXY (This is my first turbo charged car, yes, I am excited!)! Too bad the noise stops on gear change. Can't wait to get an AMS or ETS intake and hear the full potential of the car.

Was a very nice experience at the end of the day for my first hands on experience with messing around in the engine bay.

nice looks good. is that wrinkle black or just the way the picture is? if you like the sound of the car now, you will have a huge grin on your face when you install an intake
It is a nice sense of accomplishment when you do your mods yourself. I love it. If you have the problem of blowing a coupling off again, you can get some t-bolt clamps that will fix that problem.
I noticed a significant increase in sound on mine as well i have the speedcircuit pipes and have no leaks or pop off issues... Looks great.

Agreed get t bolt clamps they help you be less paranoid.
congrats on the install! i'm trying to do as many self-installs as i can too (well, self with help of others). i have the AMS intake waiting to be installed and i also can't wait to hear what it sounds like.
is that a AMS sticker or badge? does it come off? thanks
hmm i guess some come w a sticker others w the emblem welded on

I'll keep this in mind for the next time we do an install day. It'll be like watching a monkey try and fuck a football.
Thanks guys! Yes, I will definitely be getting an intake as soon as the guys at the dealership agree not to void my warranty if install it.

It's a sticker, you can peel it off, but get ready to put the extra effort in cleaning the sticky left overs if you choose to remove it. You also an extra AMS sticker with the package that you can place anywhere.
