So it has been a while since I have had to deal with a winter as I have been lucky enough to be in Florida for the winters and the Evo defiantly likes the Florida weather over this Calgary -28 crap hahaha.

First issue
Anyway today after work when I went to fire up the Evo it didn't like it to much but I let it run for 5min before driving away. Anyway even after 25min of driving it would just blow out cold air when I would be stopped at a light for more then a minute. It would fire back up and get nice and hot again as soon as I started moving though.

Second issue
I got home after work, parked it in my garage. Than an hour later I went down and got in it and went out to pick up super and as soon as I backed out of my garage the drivetrain check light popped up. My garage has heated floors and it was about room temperature so its not like anything was frozen... Any ideas?

*edit*
Evo's way of telling me to F#&^ off?

for #2, wasn't there a TSB for cold weather areas to reflash the AWD ecu or something like that to avoid this problem?

No. But you got any pictures of your garage??
Here is a link to a few pics

Here are the new wheels for the R8. I played with the colouring since the car was dirty as shit from the snow but you get the idea. Wheels are Forgelines and the centres are colour matched to the car (its actually black not grey)

The GNX (original paint from 1987)

The Bike

The TwinCharged Engine/Car

Kind of back in the day... Cavalier in the middle was supercharged (240whp)

I've had to get a new AWD pump (I think that's what it was at least) each of two winters I've had the car. Still crossing my fingers on this winter...

On a side note, Platinum's taken good care of me both times.

Even with Brandon gone? I have always had good experiences with them between knowing brandon and than a few of the service people but I haven't been back since Brandon hasn't been there and he was kind of the main man behind making the Evo guys happy...

how much you asking for the GNX and why on earth are you selling it?
$80,000 US.
Here is a link to every last bit of info/work done to it

As for why its being sold. It just never gets driven at all anymore with the R8 and Z06 around. It was mine and my dads project car for 14yrs and we just finished it for about the 3rd time (haha it went threw many stages) and now I am the only one who ever drives it and I only put about 1,000-1,500km on it a year if that.

I dont know what you do for a living to afford all that but ill trade you jobs.
hahah well what I do for a living is in the automotive dealer industry with one of the top automotive families in the city. The job backing this car collection however is the Oil industry in Calgary. My father has been in it for over 24yrs I believe which is not as long as a lot of them out there but its been good to him non the less.

He's an oil-man!

This kind:

Not this
hahahaha thanks

Nah, this was all pre-departure.
Most of the service people that was around with Brandon have also left... but judging from the 97 positive reviews on google, it seems like they're still providing good service. at least from the sales department.

i go back every 4 months or so, so i'll provide my opinion next time im down there.

That sucks. Because last time I was there was a few days after he left and I went in to pick up some mud flaps that brandon had quoted me on a few weeks prior. They were a bit more than what everyone else had them for off the internet but I like to support a dealership that I thought would have my back... Anyway I get up to the desk and ask for them so the guy pulls them out than...

Counter Guy: Thats $210.......
Me: No no not the Mitsubishi ones, I am looking for the Rally Armor ones...
Counter Guy: Yea these are the Rally Armor ones
Me: Well Brandon quoted me $XX.xx (which as I said was still more then Rally Armor themselves/other online places)
Counter Guy: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Thats less than what it costs us to buy them!

Than he turns to the other guy with him behind the desk

Counter Guy: No wonder we were loosing so much money with Brandon here, he is giving parts away for less than we pay for them.

Not sure how what brandon quoted me would be less than what they buy them for when I can go onto Rally Armours site and pick them up for less (yes this is factoring in shipping as well). You would think a retail store would get them a bit cheaper or at VERY! least get them at a retail price...

So this is kind of why I really want to stay away from them as much as I can now.

Yeah, I was going to buy the RA mudflaps at the dealership but even with Brandon's quoted price uninstalled, it was higher than direct from RA with shipping. I think unless you're gonna have the shop install the part, there might be minor savings but if you're gonna install it yourself, the dealership won't see the benefit of selling you for a deal. Which imo is an oversight on their part since it's good for business. Unfortunately, many dealerships rarely care about repeat customers especially from people that mod their cars... maybe we know more about our cars than them. I know we support and help each other in any way we can.

Anyways, hoping Platinum wants to keep their customer service up. They're probably the last place in western canada that has decent service. For a dealership.

The counter guy was on crack! I had a conversation or two with Brandon about the dealership, the pricing he gave the "community" and his reasoning behind being different to the other stealerships......sure his margins were a lot lower than most places but there was definitely still a margin. He wasn't/isn't in the business to lose money, but he also knows the benefits of customer loyalty and word of mouth, something that seems to be lost on most dealership staff :(

Just as an update... Today the "check drivetrain light" was off all day until I got home and turned the car off and ran inside for about 20min and again when I started it up it came back on but this time it wont go out. Also where it says what mode you are in (Snow, Tarmac, Gravel) it shows nothing. It used to just flash, but now its blank...... I fear my pump has gone..... This is bull shit if it has gone as it will now make it a new pump every winter the Evo has been up in Calgary...

Jeezuz, there's one hell of a failure rate up here! :( I'm keeping fingers crossed and touching wood (no, not that wood! ) that both our cars stay trouble free.

Hopefully your troubles disappear with the cold weather Freebs!
