Since no big brands offer installation kits for their head units for Lancer plus the fact that they are very expensive compared with Chinese units with similar specs I would like to ask:

Which of the many Chinese head units (with navigation) that fit into Lancer is the best one? (By best I mean faster processor, good lifespan, latest OS, best GPS receiver, things like that.)

Thanks!

I've been wanting one of the sygav units for a while 10" touch screen display running android... but then I saw this beast on a youtube channel featuring Evos and STIs that i've been binge watching lately:

12" LCD... supports Android Auto, and you can get Apple CarPlay support if that's your tea... Is it cheap? not really, but it's pretty darn cool, IMO.

Compared to brands like Alpine, Kenwood or Pioneer it is still cheap. Their 9″ units are priced around 3 times higher than the one you suggest, maybe even more.

I'm not looking for a Tesla style unit though. Furthermore, I guess the installation would require modifications.

I was looking at PX6 10″ units, but I'm not sure if they are reliable. I read that some people had problems with them: PX6 android 9,0 (no physical buttons) black screen, wont boot
I also think they don't have an SD card reader and I would like a unit that reads microSD (or SD) cards.

a lot of people use the Sygav 10" units... which sounds a lot like what you're talking about. I think they're all the same (they appear to same anyway)... the only draw back I see is it doesn't appear as though you can upgrade the OS, but I could be wrong about that...

I'm on a metered connection right now. I will check the video later, but I don't think I would like to install a Tesla style unit anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me.

There are several Chinese brands with the PX6 processor, 4GB RAM, 64 GB ROM, Android 9.0 or 10.0. Probably there are all copies of each other. The thing is if there is one that offers a better implementation of the unit. I also would be interested for one with an SD card reader. An upgradeable OS would also be nice.

Keep an eye on the Cores. Some of the cheaper models/older versions have 4 cores and 2GB and are pokey. Also, I've had 2 of these (my Evo, wife's Ralliart) and they both got dust between the LCD and outer screen which was super annoying. I guess that's what you get from the Chinese brands that you would avoid with a Pioneer/Alpine/Sony/etc.

I'm talking specifically about units with the PX6 chip, 4GB RAM and 64GB memory and a 10" screen. You can find several under different brand names with identical or almost identical specs. I don't know if they are all from the same manufacturer and they are just rebranded by different sellers or if they are copies designed by different manufacturers. Among them the Sygav is the most expensive one. Again I'm not sure if the price difference reflects any real difference regarding its quality.

I have experience with 2 previous Chinese units with Win CE OS. The first one lasted about 3 years. Its PCB with the USB, DVD and SD card controller stopped working. I ordered a new PCB but the seller sent one with a different harness that couldn't get connected to my unit. He was about to sent a 2nd PCB, supposedly the correct one this time, but I requested a photo prior to the shipping and it turned out that he was about sending the same wrong PCB once again. Probably the PCB for my unit was not available any more.
I ordered a new head unit, also with Win CE, that lasted for 7 years, Now it refuses to turn on. (I checked its fuse and also the car's fuse and they are both fine. I also reseted the unit with no success.) I had no problems with it other than that it did not recognize external USB drives, they were getting regularly disconnected and rarely recognized, and that it stopped reading MP3s from the media microSD card after the first few thousands or maybe the first thousand and a half.

No dust issues with either of them.

it is kind of big and definitely not for everyone.
Aesthetically I prefer the 10" units.

The Tesla style units have the advantage though that you can have more apps running on screen. I don't know if you can split the screen at any point you want. If the answer is yes, then that's a big plus.
Furthermore, I don't know if visibility is equally good for every part of the screen. If yes then you can place OBD data apps at the bottom and check anytime, even when using navigation.

Did you end up figuring out which one to go with? I am in the same predicament right now. Seems many people go with the Sygav model so I think I will give that a try. I also see there are some other brands on Ali Express that are about half the price but not sure on their quality so wouldn't want to take that chance unless someone could recommend one.

I purchased and installed this same one that Devin has in this video in my X about a week ago and I absolutely love this thing. I have a final edition and I wanted something that would require me to cut or permanently alter my vehicle so when I seen his video I jumped on it. Every bit of it was plug and play. Before I was running 6 little baby gauges on my Accessport but now I'm running many more and they're far bigger to where I can safely see them without having to get closer to screen in order to read the gauges. It is big but I'm ok with it. That was my preference and I also like the fact that you don't see too many people with the Tesla style as opposed to the sygavs. I don't think there's anything wrong with the sygav because I was actually going to get that at first. Only reason I didn't is because I just happened to come across this one before pulling the trigger on purchasing the 10". Either way they're both good options IMO.

Any updates on your tesla model head unit? I was thinking of getting one but wondering if it's glitchy or you had any other issues with it yet? Also trying to find the best supplier that sells it, found one on amazon that has like 4 reviews so feels kind if sketch lol.

So far no problems with the unit itself. I tried installing an add on to one of the apps it's been a little weird sometimes so I'm just gonna try and reset/uninstall/reinstall it. Also, I found a guy who actually makes a new firmware for it. He actually makes it for almost all of the tesla replica head unit models (Sergey Koslov). I found out about him from bladepool on youtube when I was watching some of his vids and seen that his screen setup was a bit different than mine. I'll eventually get the firmware but I have other plans in the works right now🤞
