My son`s evo x with 16,000 km transmission blew up. And Rally Mitsubishi in Gatineau Quebec and does not want to warrant this piece of s... car. Trans cant take the power. So now what do we do with it. They say it will cost 12.000$ to fix. Do not buy an EVO its a piece of s... I heard that under acceleration these pins go dry of oil and come out of place inside of transmission and cracks the housing. Is this true and what is our next step. Yes this car is a daily in the summer and stored inside in winter. He drives it like you should drive a EVO, hard at times. However the 300 hp should be able to take it. :wtfsign:

First of all, what are the mods on the car?
Second- Evo's are basically an as-is car, as shitty as that sounds. They don't warranty shit. Diff pins usually fail on higher power Evo's, but can also fail on stock units. And the price you mentioned doesn't sound like a GSR, but the SST from an MR/SE model. Can you elaborate?
first of all, the evo is not a piece of shit. 1 poorly designed item does not make the whole thing shitty.

the differential pins do fail, but there are fixes out there for it.

I got my unit built with the welded pins and lube mods, etc., just because of the build I did on the motor. Cheap insurance. And the GSR trans isn't that expensive, even new.
i swapped myine out..
not the best how too but take a look

This dealership in Gatineau says this car was abused. No way he drives it. On city streets to work and back, were can he asuse it he does not even have a single ticket. It never seen a track or driven on gravel. :wtfsign:This evo is brand new no scuffs, scraches, its bright white, nice looking. Its his 3rd baby, 2 other are 1 and 3 years old with car seats in the car. I am fustrated to see this dealer taking advantage of a young lad at 22 years old. We need your help with this dealership.

Call the law on them, if you have any laws against that type of fraud. Or as previously mentioned, just go to another dealer. It SHOULD be covered.
There really has to be more to this. I'm not saying that the OP is trying to get over on mitsu or anything like that. But if they said the car was abused the normal reaction would be to ask for proof. I'm pretty sure the OP did that, which begs the question what was the "abuse" that mitsu found?
Agreed. How would they know? was a tear down done?
Good point how would they know it was "beat" even if the car is tracked/raced legally it is being used for its purpose. Purchased the car and kept it in STOCK form and stock tune so IMO there is no such thing as "beating" on it, the factory tune is soooo damn rich and conservative it shouldnt blow shit but wear tires
^^^ yeah that. There had to be something they saw or they wouldn't risk just straight up lying to the OP.
Its usually the DSM (District Service Manager) who makes the decision about covering big ticket repairs under warranty. If the other dealership falls under the same district as the first dealership you went to, which it most likely will be, he will recognize the car and decline again. Your best bet is to call Mitsu corporate in Canada and raise a case. Also keep all communication records in writing if you need the help for a legal case. Either way, if what you've told us is entirely the truth, then you should be getting covered sooner or later. Be prepared for a lot of heartache. I remember how hard I had to fight with Mitsu corporate in the US for getting my engine mounts replaced which did not even fix the problem. It sucks but that's how it is with Mitsu.

I thought the MR/SE dont have this issue?
^^ yeah... that too?
