So I searched for this topic but only could find an older one from 2009 and I know both units have made improvements since then.

Currently I have the AccessPort but I keep reading about all these improvements for the SST that are not being added to the AccessPort.

So is this ECUFlash that much better than the COBB AP with the SST?

Questions I have (regarding ECUFlash)
- If I want to back to stock tune, how hard is it to do so?
- Is it true tuners are able to increase clamping pressure on SST?
- Is there MacBook support yet or still just PC?
- Other than a Laptop what else do I need to buy/where?
- I have ZERO tuning abilities/computer nerd skills and would have someone else tuning my car (E-Tune...Clipse3GT
....). Is it difficult to do this or pretty straight forward?

As for parts that I have and will be staying with are

- Password JDM intake box
- ATP Turbo inlet/outlet
- UICP
- AGP Intercooler
- 3-port Boost Solenoid
- Test Pipe
- Perrin Cat-Back

Stock turbo.. I just want to make the absolute max I can with the stock turbo.</SPAN>

EcuFlash.

It's super easy if you get e-tuned.

Ask Bryan if he can increase pressure. If you have an SST, get a tune from Bryan. Period.

Can the AP increase pressure? Nope.

ive done both Cobb AP tune and OS Ecu Flash tunes... both are easy as pie. I'm sure some Calgary Meca members could help you out if you need a hand.

For Cobb AP all you need is the AP. Your tuner will have the tuning program AT Race etc.

For OS you will need to download ECU Flash(free) evoscan (25), tactrix 2.0, odb2 ext cable (optional), and you will also want a usb to serial converter to log wideband data. You also have to soder a female serial port to your wideband data wire. Howto's are on the forum somewhere.

hmmm this is interesting.. I will do some digging, thanks

Had a Cobb and sold it.

Tactrix and Evoscan are a lot better.

The logging capabilities are better IMHO.

So for ECUFlash this is all I need to be set up

- Tactrix Openport 2.0
- Innovate LC-1 Wideband 02 Sensor
- Download this to my laptop

Now here is where I am lost/use to the COBB AccessPort. Is there a cable that plugs into the back of the Tactrix Openport and than into my laptop (just not shown in the picture on the site)? Basically my question is once I have compiled these parts, how do I go about using them hahah...

The Tactrix is the OBDII connector and yes, it has a USB cable that plugs into the computer.

The wideband you can log via the rear O2 sensor wire, you download ECUFlash, EvoScan and you'll be good to go. Both of those programs see the Tactrix cable plugged into the car and all you do is click a button to flash a rom or start logging.

To go back to a stock tune if you need to, all you do is plug in the Tactrix cable, open your stock rom and click 'Write to ECU' in ECUFlash and you're done. Super easy.

I'd suggest checking out the MTX-L instead of the LC-1. I have one and it's great. Simplifies the installation quite a bit.

either or really...

Ecuflash has more beta tables to play with, and its easier to get access to newer tables.

Cobb is slower to release updates, because they have to test them out before releasing them...

Do you know of any SST love coming out anytime soon with COBB? Such as maybe being able to play around with the clamping pressures or things like that? Also I was reading around on differential upgrades for the X and I came across a thread that was talking about ECUFlash being able to possibly tune/modify how the ACD/AYC acts... If this is true, I might be that last straw that puts me over the edge to the ECUFlash side.

You can pro-tune with cobb too... its not just for OTS...

I have been currently on Cobb but due to the market of my car(not much support and I need to user older software and I believe software bug it has) ... I will be moving to EcuFlash :)

The AP doesn't log a/f; which makes the wide band logging is an added benefit that ecu flash provides, not technically a requirement (albeit strongly recommended).

does the AP provide inputs for monitoring external sources like wide bands?
