I recently got the P0017 code, and I thought I'd share my experience in the case someone else hits the same prob.

There is a service bulletin in relation to this code: 11-13-008.

Summary of bulletin:
MITSUBISHI: MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS ON WITH A STORED TROUBLE CODE RELATED TO THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR. THERE IS A PROGRAMMING ERROR CAUSING A MIS-DETECTION OF A FAULT. 2008-2011 LANCER EVOLUTION

Simple fix covered under warranty!

Yeah it happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Brought it to the dealership and they reflash my ECU and relearned the timing chain. If worst comes to worst and the light doesn't go away, they end up changing I think one or two sensors or changing your timing chain.

Hope mine was just the software update, and not the timing chain. They reflashed my ECU too, but then asked me to flash it back the way I had it because it was pulling overboost codes.
I just got this code as i was driving home (a little on the spirited side) and thought maybe something broke, but now im hoping its just this service bulletin. Thanks ITYN for posting this as a common courtesy!
I am having this exact issue. I keep throwing the P0017 code. It clears itself after a day or 2 but it always ends up coming back. I am bringing her into mitsu this friday to get everything checked out.
Yeah, it should be a simple fix... mention the bulletin code and it will be quicker: "11-13-008". It took the dealer a little while to find the bulletin at first.

Thats always a good sign that they know what they are doing...
finally a damn tsb for this. I have had this light on for too damn long. When I called the stealership they had no idea. Now I have the Cobb ap flash to get rid of the exhaust code. Should I just unmarry it and flash it back to stock map? When I unmarry, the code didn't throw for 2 weeks and I thought it went away. When I flashed to stage 2 it came back on a week later. So I guess my question is, should I unmarry and go to the dealership or wait for the code to throw? Again the exhaust code would be on too if I unmarry the Cobb so. Idk if the dealer would deny me of a catback exhaust. Perrin cbe

I don't think I would take the risk of them voiding your warranty..I'm at the dealer right now n they asked me twice if I did any modifications to the car/ecu
The dealer knew all my mods, and didn't give me any guff... they even had me put on my custom tune before I left. Granted, I don't go to the dealer that's twenty minutes away... I drive over an hour for a decent dealer.
ya I'm driving an hour for mine too. The guy was telling me they love seeing modded evos. He has one and said he warranties a lot of cars with aftermarket parts. aand they were highly rated. I guess we will see.
Any updates from those who had the TSB performed? How are the cars after the ECU reprogramming?

Just fine, the code never appeared again. The car was running great when I got the code, so that never changed.
Car ran fine before and after the code was flashed. Then the code still popped up. Took it to the dealer again, they said my timing chain was in spec and changed the oil control valves......Still didn't work the code popped up again. So wth do i do? Does it take a cycle or two for it to relearn? should i clear the code and pray that it doesn't come back on? They told me they would void my warranty if i came back with the same problem because i have an aftermarket exhaust....
