Hey everyone I just went to my dealer about my paint being chipped after 800 miles... i was pissed they wont do shit about it. so i called 888-648-7820 thats the mistusbishi corporation themselves they told me i should go to my insurance company and i told them that my insurance wouldnt touch it because it was caused by the style of the car. they will further investigate and call me tomorrow. i think if everyone on this forum calls and complain we will get somewhere. i dont know about you guys but i just paid 32k for a car i expect it to last and to not be painting this damn thing every week. if they dont do anything i am filing a claim with the BBB. common i hope you guys are with me on this. LETS STOP THIS BULLSHIT.... and yes i know mudflaps help but it would help if they would warn you about this. PLEASE do me and urselves a favor and call the number up there and file a complaint all you need to have with you is ur vin number

This is one of the main reasons I am getting the Aero package, i hear rumors it limits the chips a bit better, I will also order some 3m film to take care of the rear panels...I'm not gonna risk chips on a new car.

But also with sticky tires you gotta expect some road debris to be thrown up... Lower the car an inch or two, add some 3m film, and make some front mud flaps and i think everyone will find rock chips will be significantly reduced.

I must just be the lucky guy on the forums.

But I now have 2600 miles on my GG GSR with no aero kit or mudflaps and i don't have any chipping issues. I've been meaning to get the mudflaps just was a little sticker shock at $200 but I do want them.

I'm worried about paint chips too .. that's why I ordered the 3M film .. hey for 200 bucks I think it's worth the trouble .. covers the 1/4 hood, bumper, wing mirrors etc ..

I'm going to guess his car is Red. Seems to be a common problem. I'm going to highly suggest the paint sealant. They give you a 5 year warranty, it fills in all the inconsistencies in the paint (orange peel) and always looks waxed whenever you wash it. The prices range anywhere from 100-300 bucks but its worth every penny.

my car is white is the base GSR evo model. its disgusting i just started whiping it down to find tons of specs that look like dirt but they are really chips. i know i can get 3m tape and i put mudflaps on already. but if we get a ton of us to call corporate they will do somthing. if we just keep coming up with our own solutions thats great but i dont wanna paint my car every month. i only have 1000 miles on my car and barely made my first payment thats ridiculous

ok guys i have spoken to a friend of mine that works at the dealer and they said that if everyone goes to the corporate level with this complaint MITSUBISHI will have to fix the problem. its not hard guys just call the number i posted let them know you paid good money for your car and that you shouldnt be having to repaint your car because of the wheels being to wide for the body and therefore causing it to be a manufacture defect.

THANKS for your support guys. please call and soon so they can do somthing for us

I've had the same problem on my Octane Blue X and noticed the chips after the first wash (600km perhaps). It's not real bad but I know it could be a problem down the line.

I called my sales-guy earlier this week and mentioned this to him and he did offer to get me the OEM mudflaps for his cost so depending on what that is I will probably take him up on the offer. Ofcourse though not many of these cars have been sold where I come from (I was the second in town) so he hadn't heard of the problem now.
When I get back down to the car in the summer time I will probably take some good pictures of the damage as well as take the car over to show it to him as well as his boss and even the service guys if I can find them.

If all else fails I'll get some touch-up paint from the dealership (or an auto body paint supply shop I used to work for), touch up the damaged spots myself and then get the area 3m'd.

i just got off the phone with corporate they are investigating this. if all you guys call they will do somthing. they contacted my dealer and all of a sudden my dealer wants to help me out. kinda strange guys. just please call corporate we should not have to pay for this damage. yes if it was 10k or 20k later i understand but damn 1000 miles later they must be crazy. common guys call it doesnt take long to file a claim and they will get back to you within 24 hours.

Agreed!

I expect some highway front chips from rocks and such, I think I already have a few...can't avoid those really. truck will be driving and shit will be flying off the truck. Though I have not noticed anything on my doors or side really.
:+1:Hate to tell you but AWD and sticky tires will equal chips. It's just difficult. Protect it the best you can. My old school DSM has chips. Rocks suck:tumbleweed: on the street! Maybe I should think about Mud flaps this time around...

im glad someone agrees. but 1000 miles into the car u must be trippin... i get some chips yeah sure no problem but when it looks like somone took a sand blaster to it i dont think so. what does awd drive have to do with the chips regardless all four tires are spinning on any car. if you look at the car closely you will see the tires stick out a slight bit more then the body and that is what causes this problem. if mudguards are on then you wouldnt see this problem.. normal wear and tear is fine but when it gets to you having to repaint your car once a month that is just strait messed up

I'm going to give my car a thorough wash tomorrow and I'll take a look. I have about 850 miles on it. If I'm seeing the same problem I'll be on the phone ASAP.
make sure you check the bottom of the rear doors and the and the curve on the side skirt. you may find tiny nicks that will be hard to see because of the color you have
