Car is stock but I'm considering tuning it with basic bolt-ons such as TP and 3 port. I've been told that the stock fmic should be okay but my tuner is recommending an aftermarket fmic because the turbo creates a lot of heat...any tips?

From everything I've seen on the forums stock turbo keep the stock fmic. I've done a handful of auto x and have driven around in the summer with bolt ons and stock fmic and havent had any issues.

Absolutely no need to replace stock IC with a stock turbo.

Turbo only creates unmanageable heat when its pushed beyond its efficient range. Which is usually right around 27 psi. At 5500 the stock turbo really stops making power and really drops off after 6500 from every stock turbo stock block "bolt ons" thread I've seen. E85 helps but isn't going to make up for the small size of the turbo.

The only time I would suggest a FMIC upgrade is if you plan on going for higher power in the long term.
