Driven Calgary - 9th June 2012

Due to 'renovation' work at the Olympic Oval last year, Driven never made an appearance here in Calgary, but this year it's back on the calendar, with the date set for 9th June.

So who's up for attending as a MECA/Alberta group this year? The club/area certainly has enough vehicular talent, both Evo's and RA's, to put on a decent show, at least im my opinion. The Western Subaru guys generally attend in force so it'd be nice to offer a good showing of their arch rivals holla

No idea on the costs yet, but I doubt it's that much. If you want to park up as a group then you generally have to roll in as a group.......any stragglers will be persona non grata and parking elsewhere. This means the folks travelling from afar will have to be in Calgary sometime in the afternoon/evening on Friday 8th. I'd imagine we'll be kicked out sometime on the evening of the 9th. I have no idea on maximum numbers of cars yet either, but I'm sure all of the pertinent info will make it's way to us in due course.

I'd probbaly stop by and check it out.. but not sure my car is worth seeing.

- back country logging roads
- trips to stratotech
- westerner park auto x
- gravel parking lots (work)

My paint is Knackered already at 16k on the dial (10 months old)

12k miles later, 1 year:

Cracked front Bumper, peeling paint on grill. crack across windshield, hood looks like teen just hit puberty, scratched skirt, f'ed up rims, and so on.

I dont think my car is worth be there either

My only mods are:
-Custom spoiler
-Rally Armor mudflaps
-Rexpeed CF spliters
-HKS Hi Power Cat Back
-AMS CAI ( not installed yet )

But im totally coming to check your cars out

unless I get some nice parts before then :yay:

your spoiler rocks! if i didn't already want to buy the do-luck trunk i'd probbaly want your spoiler.

Oh man that do-luck is pretty sweet but I didn't know about until freebs showed to me just after installing the new spoiler haha! It would look super nice on your ww evo!

Mine and the wife's cars aren't exactly trailer queens. I have chipped paint and a cracked windshield (for over 18 months now) too......but it's of course up to you boys.

if i'm off that weekend I could definitely make a calgary trip. Not too sure what the schedule is looking like that far ahead tho.

Im going to plan vacation time so I can make it I think. By then I will have some track wheels with slicks... if I can find a way to get those down there ill put them on for the event.

As steel bounced this back on to the radar in the call to arms thread, I thought I'd post some more specifics on the event.

Driven Calgary 2012

Saturday June 9th, Calgary Olympic Oval
Roll in will be Friday 8th between 2pm and 9pm
Roll out between 10pm and midnight on Saturday 9th.

If we are going as a club or team, we must have a minumum of 5 cars. The cost is $50 PER CAR for which you get 2 entry passes and $10 goes back to the club/members to fund setup, food or whatever else.

If we go on individual entries, the cost is still $50 PER CAR, but we don't get anything back to fund setup

Whichever way you look at it, it ain't cheap, but I'm still likely going along. It'd obviously be better if we can muster the 5+ cars for a club stand though.

if not everyone wants to be in the show.. can also do a meet and cruise tehre together... always a good time to meet up if people are comin for the show

I agreed last week to put my car in to the vex booth. + was at stratotech may5th breaks are already starting to show their track time in what i call the "track dark red colour" 1 year and 15 days old.

spent 2 days just on the back end of my car with the clay bar removing the rail dust. .. will i get it done by june? lol

ps my car has an i <3 Alberta Rally sticker on it. does that mean i have +10 hp? hahahha

With MECA's track record of meets, no one will show up to Driven anyway. At least I won't be alone at Driven

Our meets may be not as frequent but i would say the quality of members is much higher. When we do meet we do it right!
