Hi, i own a 2010 Evo X GSR and the stock brakes make ton of noise squeal at low speed. I'm looking for a solution to greatly reduce or eliminate the braking noise and someone talked to me about the EBC Brakes Redstuff pads.

Has anyone used those pads ?
Has the squeal sound stoped ?

Thank you !

I would do some 60/50/40 to 5mph hard stops about 6 in a row. It should bed the brakes in. If that doesn't solve it, pop the pads out and lube the backing with some brake grease.

Can you explain further ??

Simply saying Avoid isn't that much information...

What other brand do you like better ?

I am on Magic pads. A lot of people like the Ferrodos, too. All Hi-perf pads are going to make *some* noise. The Factory pads are Ferrado also, and as you know they grip like a crack-whore getting her cash. I'd remove your pads and clean all mating surfaces, then apply something like "Cerametallic" coating to the backings and sides of the backings. This will solve 95% of the noise. The rest that you hear will likely just be the contact surface noise, which is minimal compared to the pad-backings, etc. PM me if you need more help.

I don't mind having hi-perf brakes but i'm willing to reduce perf if that eliminate also the braking noise...i could bear a light squeal but it's now louder than my stereo !

Would bedding-in the pads help in any way or is that only a temporary solution ?

Isn't there already a pad-backing on the factory stock pads ?

Ebc pads are horrible, they will fade and break up with any kind of abuse, I've used reds and yellows in the past and I think tree bark would make a better pad material.
Carbotech xp8, ferodo ds2500, brakes are important, not something that should be a budget item imo

I really don't mind paying for a good set of brake pads but i just want to skip the noise...if that means lowering performance...at this point i don't mind. I'm not looking at EBC for a cheap deal but i've heard the're pretty quiet and have low dust that's all.

Isn't it ferodo that comes from factory on Evo X GSR 2010 ?

Mintex 1155 or Ferodo DS2500

Brake Pads are dependent on what you use your car for, road or track. Many people use them for a both. Most people I know use Ferodo DS2500, I will be trying them out on my car very soon as some one is giving me a set! You can pick them up for about $200 and they will last you.

Personally I use Mintex 1155 (from the UK). They have been outstanding. I have had 6 trackdays with them on the stock rotors, no issues. It is now time to change them though! Mintex do a lot of motor raceing pads in the UK, but the 1155 is for track and road use. They are available from Questmead in the UK for around £90 + shipping.

One of the guys I met did say that Red Stuff were his choice of pads, but I don't have personal experience fo them.

Generally the 'road and track use' pads last you longer and have no issues using them for daily driving.

PS My stock pads squeeled after one track day of use, I got rid of them quick!

Thanks nazman !

I don't even do track. I do mostly roads...i do sometimes use the brake "aggressively" on the road and the rest of the time in urban place i can't and that's when they squeal like crazy.

I'll give a try of changing the pads as a first try to get rid of this.

Thx !

I am also looking for a replacement stock pads with lower dust. Any other recommendation other than XP8 and DS2500?
My car is mainly used for street driving. No track days or HPDE.

Thank you.

Im not sure about their vehicle mounted brake pads; but, EBC makes phenomenal AGGRESSIVE pads for motorcycles, their double H or HH Sintered pads have incredible stopping power. The downfall... they tend to eat away at the rotor a bit.

I wonder if they have the HH recipie for automobile applications.

If that doesnt work for you.

Check out brakeperformance.com

400-500 bucks a full set of dimpled and slotted rotors with pads. That work great! Ive used them on several of my vehicles and am about to replace the stockies i have now

Thank you !

Magic pads are a great street compound. Every customer that I have sold a set to that has used them has loved them. Good stopping power, lower dust and no noise, longer pad life. Plus they are very affordable.

No they dont hold up to the same heat or have quite the bite as the stock pads or other high performance pads, but thats not what they were meant for. They were designed to be a street compound and they are fantastic for that.
