Enkei RPF1 + Advan RZ

Okay, so I am in the position now to get my second set of wheels. Now I know for the 10" size my Advan's are lighter than the RPF1's but my Advan's also look like hammered Hell from racing. So I am left with a decision...

Get the RPF1's in 10" size in black and use them for DD and then continue to use my Advan's for racing and say F it on the paint...or get the RPF1's in 10.5" and use them for racing and (DD while I get the Advan's repainted).

I ultimately want to be able to run the same tires on either wheel, which with a 275 size tire that should not be a problem. I really hate how the RPF1 looks, so I am leaning more towards using them for racing but then again the RZ's are lighter. I am not going to drop another $3k for another set of Advan's before anyone suggest that!

So anyhow, what does everyone think?

Nice. I hope it doesn't match GG though, that'll look weird.

Are you going to powder coat the Advans?
I used my touch-up paint for my GG on my Advan's almost the exact color! I am going to let the Advan's just get further into Hell!

maybe 4layer of plasti dip will prevent those chips.

When I get the new wheels I am going to put some truck bed liner on them... Maybe even the entire wheel face.

put some Tefal coating there.lol.
My wife helped me pick...drum roll! Enkei RPF1 18x10.5 +15 in Gunmetal for DD.

what she picked up the PINK one.
Volk RE30 Club Sports FTW - my 18x9.5 +22 weigh 6.8 kg... light enough for me :)
Great choice, although IMO 9.5" wide is best suited for a 275 width tire. You could have saved even more weight. Also, there is a +15 option in RPF1 for 18 X 9.5 IIRC.

9.5 with a 265 is pretty darn square, but that might just be the extra wide sauce they drizzle on the Star Specs. I can't comment on any other brand tire on 9.5...
Star Spec's
this thread has me thinking that I don't want to auto-x or do track days on my Volks. Which is kinda stupid in the sense that I don't want to use my expensive, strong, lightweight racing wheels for racing.

Guess I'll DD the Volks and rock the stock wheels for racing at least until I go through the tires that are on them. Then I'll probably put some all season or snow tires on the stockers and get some cheap wheels with good tires for the track. I really want some 19's for DD though, maybe I sell the volks, get cheap track wheels and 19's?
Yea, I'd do the exact opposite. Given the choice... Volks for racing & OEM wheels for the street.

Are your RZs forged (I think the DF version)? I didn't know that the RZs were around the same weight as RPF1s. I'm actually a big fan of RPF1s. They are cheap, light, easy to find, & good sizing. The spokes of the Advans stick out too much & makes for an ugly wheel, IMO. And those Weds got beat with the ugly stick. I think I just have an opposite taste.. lol :D
Both the Advan RZ and the Enkei RPF1 are not forged. Both are about the same in weight if not slightly lighter on the RPF1s (I've held both in my hands and was able to pick up and put down and pick up repeatedly just to confirm the shipping scale was correct in showing the RPF1 at 18.6 lbs and the RZ at 18.8 lbs, so my calibrated arms approved of the weight scale's measurement)

Yea I hear you, and that's why I am somewhat conflicted about what to do.
Ideally I'd use stockers with snow tires for going snowboarding, volks for racing and get 19" ADV.1 for DD & show but that's a lot of :$::$:. For now my plan is to DD the Volks and track the stockers since they have good tires/tread on them. Once those are both getting worn out I will reevaluate the whole deal.

Sorry for the threadjack, congrats on the purchase and lets see some pics of them mounted asap
I don't care or the color in the wheel on the weds
I actually saw the RPF1's in the gunmetal and they are too light gray. I was expecting a darker gunmetal like the Advan DGM...back to looking. I am on the fence right now though. I just landed a job today that has a shitty parking lot. So I am not sure whether I should get a beater for a few thousand or take my chances with new wheels and hope I don't get dinged to hell at work...
The SA55's are beautiful, but the TC-105's are lighter.

Also, the whole cast vs. forged thing is silly. If a cast wheel was lighter than a forged wheel (which does happen) I would take the cast wheel. There is no way of comparing strengths other than the obvious idea that forged is supposed to have a higher tensile. The whole reason to use forging is to make the weight lower (need less material for the same strength).

:yeahthat: Just got mine last week. 18.4lbs in 10.5

I have never looked at the TC-105's, they look awesome! Might be an option actually.

I like the 55's as well, but I wanted the black and red but the black is more of a black rose (red haze to it).
