I believe both evo and caliber SRT-4 shares the same platform as well as engine design, but of course both dodge and mitsubishi made adjustments to both cars for different purpose. People on EvoM complained how the X shares the same engine as the cali SRT-4, but the way I see it is that the larger the after market support is for the 4B11T, the cheaper and efficient the mods will be. And besides, they seem to forget that 4G63 was used in a lot of vechiles, including vans. They talk like their shit don't stink.

edit: I just went through the whole thread. This is REALLY GOOD NEWS, lets hope Mitsubishi did a bit more than Dodge in terms of reinforcing the engine for more boost! :godance:

yes but just think of the future modpath if you decide to go with a 2.4 build on the X. Things will be much cheaper with mopar in the picture and the potential for engine builds will be that much greater! I see this as a good thing.

Ya, it is actually a different engine. The caliber runs onf 4B12, which is 2.4 litre....
actually the 2008 lancer gts use the 4B12 2.4lt engine now. so basically their running the same engine just probably not built to handle boost.

i think the 4B11 and 4B12 will be somewhat interchangeable. the 4B12 is just a stroked version of the 4B11. thats what i read in motor trend. if u look at the honda K20 and K24. its basically the same thing. a stroked version with probably different internals.

this is gonna be good for the Evo X. u now get a drop in 2.4lt engine. which most likely uses the same cam design and well as other things. from what i read on the SRT-4 site, there room for that engine to be even stroked out further. can u picture a 2.8lt evo???? shit, the sti's had the advantage with being able to be stroked out that high. now its the evo X turn. haha, no hope for the STi now. :shades:

A 2.8L will never happen. The math just doesn't allow it to be realisitic. Also, the evo's 4B11T and the standard 4B11 are very different engines.

I haven't heard of the 4B12 2.4L being standard in the 08 Lancers though.

the 2.4L (4B12) is standard in the GTS version only of the 2008 lancers. the lower versions of the lancer get only the 2.0L. read the new motor trend (march 2008 issue) or visit ur local mitsu dealer to verify.

as for the 4B11T and 4B11. arent they the same block in size and build. with the evo engine being internally design and reinforced to handle boost better. so i would think technically they are the same engine, with the difference the evo version having more reinforcement.

as for the 2.8L not being possible. ive read and seen articles about some suby 4 bangers being stroked to 2.7L. so i would think it should be possible for the 2.4L engine in the SRT-4 to be able to be stroked out more. they even said on that SRT-4 forum, that there is room for the engine to being stroked.

all we can do is speculate about it right now. we'll see what happens by time the year ends. cuz by then we'll be seeing some stroked evo X and srt-4 engines.
