Yesterday I test drove a GSR. While I loved the way it drove, I was very disappointed in the low grade interior. I understand that the rest of the world can get a GSR with the MR leather/suede interior...that should be made an option on USA spec GSR's too. And, I sure hope the MR interior is a substantial improvement or I may have to look elsewhere for my new daily driver. For giggles, I went next door to the Honda dealer and test drove a new Mugen Honda Civic. While it's a great looking car, it was not nearly as much fun to drive as the GSR. However, the Mugen Civic did have an interior made of much higher quality materials than the GSR. And it was ~$10,000 less as well! At the $40k+ that they are asking for an EVO with options, if Mitsubishi does not fix this low grade interior problem, the EVO will be a bust in the USA. That's just too much money for a car with an interior that makes a Kia look like a Lexus!

i get your point, but I don't mind. The interior isn't horrible and its functional which is all i could give... adding fancy trim and other upgrades is just gonna push the price up more and make the car heavier. I'd rather my 35k went to more power and a better car then to upgraded cosmetics.

It sure looked horrible to me...the door panels and headliner are made of the cheapest looking crap I have ever seen...my daughter's have had doll houses with higher grade cloth-felt-whatever it is supposed to be...the Mugen Civic interior looks like a Bentley in comparison...everyone needs write and/or e-mail Mitsubishi and voice their dissatisfaction with the crap they are selling us...otherwise they will continue to give the USA substandard interiors...Europe and Asia get the higher grade MR interior in the GSR...

But we're not on that side of the ocean (well some of us at least haha). However I'm definately happy with the interior for the most part, I can't really complain.

Well I guess I demand a little more from a company that wants to charge me $40k+ for a car...while the dash and console are OK, the door panels and headliner look like they were bought at the Dollar Store ... even WalMart sourced material would be a big improvement ... seriously, go look at a sub-$20k base Honda, Kia, Nissan interior and then look at the GSR interior...you will then see my point...

Anyone making trim kits? Maybe brushed aluminum kits to make it look like the Prototype X interior instead of the faux carbon fibre trim? Better yet, anyone making carbon fibre interior trims yet? Hell, I'd buy it for my coming MR! :D

Before i got my Evo, i was in a ten year old Toyota celica, so to me the Evo interior is a HUGE upgrade. Although others complain about how cheap the interior is, i have only good things to say. Luxury car its not, but i definatly dont think its bottom of the barrel either.

40k+??? What? Maybe if the price is jacked like crazy... but then that isn't mitsu charging that much. So by saying this you are already using flawed information.

Another thing, the Evo is not and never will be a luxury car. If you want a luxury car look elsewhere. They put as much of their budget into performance as possible. That is why the Evo has a very specific audience. If you are worried about the interior so much then it is probably not for you.

For the rest of us, we would prefer the performance and the interior is NOT as bad as you say. I had a 3g eclipse before this and it is an upgrade.

lol. Yep most of my cars have not been lux mobiles'...the interior is just fine for me and actually looks pretty damn nice for what I'm used to.

I'm sure glad they put so much into performance and stuff like that and not sticker jacking options. 40k? In an earlier thread someone walked out of dealer in MN with a base model for 30k OTD. Most are paying around 34/35 so stop with this 40 g's thing...tired of hearing that. Go get your 3 series and be happy....

:+1: I mean look at the old Evo...the interior was even worse...but thats just not what the Evo is about, its a performance car not a luxurious daily driver car, if you want that then simply buy a BMW. I'm guessing this guy is one of the new "targeted audience" people or is just now entering the Evo world, cause all Evo enthusiasts are well aware the Evo isn't about the interior, of course it would be a plus, but it's just not.

I have a Nissan...while the interior may look better by comparison I have more faith that the EVOs interior was better put together...3 days after I got my sentra my friend got in the back seat and when he shut the door the inside hand grip came off after the door closed....

Put more stock in how its put together rather then how it looks. Just and Idea but I do tend to agree...especially when you can build a BMW, Infiniti, and Lexus for cheaper then an EVO

keep in mind that you are spending 33-40k not for the interior but for the performance and thrill the evo X offers. most importantly, you are paying for the lovely S-AWC :D

I see this too often, too many people think that in a Lancer Evolution at 35k has to be on the same par luxury wise as other 35k cars. The whole point of this car is "it's a 10k car with a 25k drivetrain". Get something else if you don't understand why the car is what it is. All other cars are 25k car with 10k drivetrains.

I think the interior in the Evo X is just fine, I have a 2005 Lexus IS300 and the only difference is the leather seats really. Trust me leather is not all that great! Cold as ice in the winter time and hot and sticky in the summer time! Plus you have to always wipe and condition leather or it will start to crack and stuff.
