So I recently bought a evo x with 8,000 miles on it. It’s a 2010 gsr when I try to start it I just cranks for 3 seconds I stop and do it again and it starts right away and the car has a rough idle and when I turn the ac on the idle gets even rougher

I would start with discerning if there are any modifications done/previous tune, check voltages, pulling the spark plugs and checking their health.

8,000 or 80,000 original miles? That's bonkers.. I thought my '15 had low miles at 36k lol!

Based on the symptoms you've described, there could be a few potential causes for the rough idle and difficulty starting your Evo X. Here are a few possibilities:

1. Fuel delivery issues: Check the fuel system for any clogged filters or injectors that might be affecting the fuel flow. It's also worth considering the fuel pump's health.

2. Ignition system problems: Inspect the spark plugs and ignition coils for signs of wear or damage. Faulty spark plugs or coils can result in a rough idle and difficulty starting.

3. Air intake issues: Verify that the air intake system is clean and free from any obstructions or leaks. An improper air-fuel mixture can cause rough idling.

4. Idle control valve: The idle control valve could be malfunctioning, affecting the engine's ability to maintain a smooth idle. Cleaning or replacing the valve might be necessary.

It's recommended to have a professional mechanic or technician diagnose and address the issue, as they can perform more comprehensive tests and pinpoint the exact cause. They may also be able to access diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the vehicle's computer, which can provide additional insights into the problem.

I had the problem with the rough idle and when AC was one the car would die when sitting on idle. The problem was that after each tune the fuel trims reset and the throttle body was dirty and it got wrong fuel trims so I cleaned the throttle body and unplugged the battery for a few minutes or if u have tactrix cable reset the fuel trims and everything was fine after that. For not wanting to start I found that the cables on the fuel injectors were the problem so I rewired them with bosch/audi like adapters since all the retail adapters are shit to begin with, been driving for 4 years without a problem. For the A/C it's 100% dirty throttle body I had this issues for like 2 years before I figured it out was very annoying about the start check the injector cables usually they are the culprit also spark plugs.
