Hey all
Well , since the Evos and STi's first came out, i knew that it was my dream DD, ive always like the STi's more than Evos, but i currently dont like the current gen STi and I love the current Evo, though i was always set on a STi, i was also set on owning both a evo/STi one day. The next Gen STi is going to be killer looking, since primarily based on the new impreza which is a great looking car to build a STi off compared to the ones in the past, so im waiting for that to get one, but as you all must know the next evo will be hybrid, and if theres 2 things i hate most about the auto industry, its Scions & hybrids/electric cars, so i figured i'd get a evo X before its too late.
Im leaning heavily towards leasing since MMNA has a 48 month 359$ month w/4k down lease on the gsr base ( what i would want), but also i might just go for a used 08 as i dont like the new Evo's ralliart tails.
Should i find a under 20kmile 08 or lease a new one. The more i think about used the more i wanna do it, but can i trust a used Evo X even stock and under 20k considered there typically driven roughly,
thanks guys holla

I always like my cars to be virgins, and have always had them that way. I obviously don't go through a lot of cars, but I would say lease one.

Think of it this way, although you do always 'lose' money through leasing, the rates you're getting are great, and would equal a $15,600ish payout to buy the car off the lease when it is over (assuming you got it down from sticker price like most normal people know to do). $16k is a great price for a three year old evo whose owner you know very well:)

Lease it. I leased mine about 2 years ago. The payments are less, and yeah, in a couple more years Ill owe $15K when the lease is over. Ill then either sell it, or finance that remainder with my bank.

Also, go virgin. I learned from making a mistake of buying a used 97 GSX about 5 years ago. It drove fine until 3 days after taking the keys, the transmission took a shyt. Never buying a used "performance" car again.

Update: I may just save until the next STi comes out because
A: The mazdaspeed protege still puts a smile on my face when that boost kicks in
B: I sat in a new evo x , feels incredibly cheap vs the STi aside from the beautiful gripp seats and pretty cool steering wheel. The window buttons feel like they were cut from aluminum foil, the shifter boots faux leather feels cheaper than something that would come on a Action figure, the shift knobs cheap, the dark, drowny black color of the interior makes me feel somewhat unwelcomed in it, and that fake carbon fibre stuff on the seats feels irritable to feel.
C: good things: The thing handles like something that costs 3x as much, just beautiful feel. 5spd drone wasnt bad on highway, the shifter felt a little rubbery, but not quarter bad as my msp, one the turbo kicked in that thing Flew!, although i must say around town in lower rpm's it didnt feel like a 4.5 0-60 car ( i realize thats the magazines average and our will be slightly diffrent) but still. The seats were amazing on the road, felt like i was being hugged by a bear and was very confident i wouldnt move. The car is very easy to drive, i love the exterior styling, breaks are better than expected, and i felt like i was a superhero and could do anythign in that car ( for good or worse reasons :yay:) , the car really got me going as if i was a race car driver , amazing drive, but for the passengers / people who dont know what it is or drive it, theyre going to really wonder what the hell i spent the 35k on.
(Still like STi's better if anyones wondering, its a better built package.)

If you want a fancy interior and a comfortable ride with storage space than the sti works for you. I'm sure most will agree the Evo is a pure sports car. Its all performance where the sti is a comfy dumbed down ride with some performance sprinkled here and there.
I love the interior of the Evo. Its simple. I get into a honda or bmw and I feel like I'm about to pilot a space shuttle.
I say lease the Evo and fix the few things you dont like about the interior. You can easily change out the shift knob and boot and wrap the fake cf in flat black vinyl or whatever you like. Stuff you can do for cheap and undo if you decide to hand the car over after the lease.

I understand what the evo is about, my father has a 12'boss 302 a imported m3 GTS , imported audi rs3 wagon, and more cars made for performance and not luxery, its just that im young and have been working hard since i was 13 for a STi or EVO and i just feel as if they should have better build quality.....I think i may just wait for the 13' evo X so that the new STi is out and i can compare. but i dont know yet :confused2:

I don’t know what is so bad about the Evo X interior. I think it is ok.
I like it simple and functional; yes the materials are a bit cheap, but compared to some other cars it is great. The only thing that looked really bad (to me) was the shift boot and know, I replaced both and it looks X times better!
M3 GTS, is it street legal? Pics!

I've disliked the look of the rear view mirror. After having an STi with auto-tint and the compass the Evo one just looks cheap and flimsy.

just remember not to forget about the maintenance on this car since it is fairly expensive if you do not do it yourself and insurance will also be fairly high with a lease since you have to follow your lease terms for the minimum coverage. As for leasing vs buying outright, you have to crunch the numbers and figure out which one makes more sense. In my case i went with a 36mo lease with 3.5k down and will be buying out at the end. This ended up being cheaper than financing it for me at least. Since your in CT, where are you looking? Schaller?
