Compiled a 5 hour playlist of professional videos from around the world reviewing and comparing the Evo X's (all models and specials). American, Japanese, German, Dutch, Australian, Russian, etc. Some are not in English and have no subtitles but you generally get the point: the Evolution X is one of the best sports saloons of all time.

Some videos are not very informative and others are very well done, but the verdict is unanimous!

Could not find a bad review and the Evo X trounces the STI in 95% of tests. Even when the Evo did not win the outright performance tests the reviewers just basically said the Evo X was still their choice. Amazing! Try finding this kind of universal slant in any of the other big brand name wars like Porsche v Ferrari or Mustang v Camaro, etc. Not ragging on STI, they are awesome too, but find me a comp where they went with the STI.

My favorites include:

1) Dutch(?) show where the tall fat dude seems to get pissed that his STI sucks compared to the Evo.
2) Clarkson ragging on STI so hard then the STI laps the test track .02 seconds faster then the Evo X
3) Japanese vids that seem to show the AYC/ACD/ASC on/off combos and their lap time differences
4) Anything FQ-400! Taking on the GTR and standing tall- imagine a test 20 years ago if they did a comp of a VR-4 Galant vs a 911 turbo. It would have never happened because it would not be close, yet today supercars vs an Evo X is a hair-splitter.

One of the main complaints there has to do with the trans, which in that review is an SST.

Also, they knocked it for sound, which I'll agree with: stock engine/exhaust is terrible. Why they went that route, I have no idea.

It's funny because EVO magazine is like the "haters-r-us" of evolutions. There is a guy named Foster that wrote so much shit about the Evo X it was hilarious. He had it for a long term test and seemed to go mental about things like filling the windshield reservoir in the back.

My theory is that EVO magazine can't like the EVO because it would be too confusing?

Added a few videos to the list from India (in english strangely??), one with a dude and another with a chick - both are going crazy over the car. "Thank you, come again!"

I don't think they hate evos, in this comparison the Evo IX won (by "quite a large margin"):

But yeah, they did seem to bash the Evo X a little too much. I thought it was a little over the top especially the long term test complaints like the washer fluid :duh:

I take all of these review with a grain of salt. Evo-types (like us), we already knew we were going to buy the car. The car will never be "sold" to us, WE BUY it. We put up with the faults because, well, it's an effing Evo.

I see these reviews as being more for the rest of the world, that doesn't "get" what the Evo is.

For the faithful that's probably more than true. Myself I had always admired Evo's but my first thought was to do an STI because I love horizontal engines. These reviews and alot of reading and test drives really did sway me to the Evo.

You just cannot beat this awd system, it is so elegant and advanced. Only thing that compares at all is the GTR ATTESA and it has always suffered from complexity and weight issues with double driveshafts and the rear transaxle layout. S-AWC is the spiritual successor to the ground breaking 959 system in terms of engineering. Or course the electronics are 10x more advanced these days. The STI's system is Frankenstein at best.

All these auto journalists are not worthy, they just do not know anything about cars and instead concentrate on cliche and presentation. But it's hard not to start with these reviews in the beginning, and the verdict was Evo X is the best sports saloon of all time, hands down.
