Mitsubishi Evo X LED Tail Light LEDs

(Evo shown as comparison)

From the factory, tail light bulbs are powered by standard incandescent lights that light up white in color, and cast light through your red or amber tail light lens. This results in a washed-out color.

Newer luxury vehicles are using LEDs for turn signals, because LEDs offer a crisp, instant on/off function, increased brightness, and true, vibrant color. By replacing the bulbs in your Evo X, you can achieve this modern look!

Brightness

Diode Dynamics offers several brightness options so you can choose what fits you best. These options are listed by the design and the lumen output of each bulb compared to factory:

HP11: (310 lumens) Slightly higher brightness than OEM bulbs.

XP80: (510 lumens) Much brighter than OEM bulbs. These are bright!

Bulb Design:

HP11: Four side-firing 1.5W-rated Osram LED chips, and one 5W-rated LED chip on top, which is projected by a lens for maximum effective brightness. The bulb is housed in a machined aluminum casing, which provides superior heat diffusion for long life.

XP80: Each of the four sides of this bulb contains three 5W-rated chips, and the top is fitted with four more under a projector lens. This is the brightest self-contained automotive LED bulb on the market, and is housed in an aluminum casing with a textured finish for maximum heatsinking properties.

Included in your order is TWO BULBS.

So do y'all have the flasher module like for the Genesis coupe to avoid the hyper blinking with the LED turn signals? or do we still have to wire in a resistor?

You guys should make a plug and play resistor package for us less electrically inclined folk lol.

The EvoX's flasher relay is integrated into the BCM, unlike the easily replaceable flasher relay units that some vehicles (like the Genesis Coupe) have installed.

Resistors are the only solution to prevent the hyperflash with LED turn signals at the moment.

figured there would be a reason. the Gen coupe was easy, right under the steering wheel lol.

We can still get away with doing LED tail lights though right? As in without the resistor? since we don't have the whole "tail for turn" type.

Correct! Tail lights will not require resistors, only the turn signal locations.

The resistors can be mounted anywhere away from rubber or soft plastics. Ideally on a metal surface

Where do you guys recommend mounting the resistor in the rear?
Don't forget resistors tend to get hot when in use. so like Nick said. keep it away from rubber, plastics, or carpet.

That's kinda hard in trunk unless you remove the trunk liner behind the tail lights.

Plus its not like you can just stick it to the body on the inside.
I wouldn't say you actually need to rest it on anything to be honest. they're not THAT big. but yes, ideally you would need to remove the trunk liner to find a nice spot.

Any location you can mount them where they aren't touching rubber, or plastic will be fine.

They will get hot (heat is a byproduct of electrical resistance), but they aren't going to spontaneously combust.

i need to get some of the HID low beam bulbs. Are they brighter then the factory OE HID? or is your LED headlights brighter? can you use the LED if you have factory HIDs?

If you have OEM HIDs, you won't be able to swap them out for LED bulbs, unfortunately. HIDs do gradually become less bright over time though, so you can replace them to return to the original brightness level. Let us know if you have any other questions!
